So, I wasted a few minutes in Photoshop resizing the 640x480 backdrops to 1024x768. I could've spent more time on prettifying it and adding detail, but I was desperate to play CC and smash enemy green clones into little bits bwahahahaha. It's a little ugly, but tolerable, and it works. Extract these to the Cortex Command folder and it should all go into the right place and hey presto. Obviously CC has to be set to 1024x768.

Hope this helps someone else who can't stand 640x480

Double edit: I am a retard and forgot to add one of the bmps to the actual file. Also now a zip for anyone who is allergic to rars.

You could've just dug through the CC config files and looked for one that had the resolution in it. (Assuming DR took that approach.)

In order to use a changed config using 1024x768 you need larger backdrops or you end up with half the level background missing. These are backdrop files for anyone too lazy/can't do it themselves.

In the settings.ini file in Base.rte you can easily change resolution manually. The background doesn't seem to catch up with it, but the game works fine as long as you play single.

Yes, which is the reason I resized the default backgrounds so they fit 1024x768.

Well, I've been around long enough to see at least 3 of these threads, the first of which was started by me and only took 5 minutes of tweaking the bg files with paint. If someone would go and make a decent (maybe even entirely different) set of backgrounds for 1024x768, that would be awesome.

My 1024x768 no-gravity space fighter mod is probably lost... that was fun...

And if you tweak the bg files some more, you can even make it 1600x1200, which is a blast to play on, if a bit... open. There's no such thing as vertical scroll at that point.

Hint: you might want to include the actual settings.ini file with the changed resolution and fullscreen set to 1.

I wonder if this counts as a mod...

i tried changing the resolution to fit my screen, and cc wouldn't start. dang. its more fiddly than it looks
