Level 42 in WoW, I couldn't bring myself to level up again. Also it was boring.

First MMO I ever played was Ragnarok Online, I tried runescape sometime after and immediately dismissed it as crap.

KoL is the only MMORPG I really play (and you don't adventure around with others, so it might qualify only as an RPG with community elements), and it has ascensions and levels. Once you beat the main quest, you can start over at level 1 with a few nice bonuses, a new permanent skill, and some voluntary restrictions. Here's the log of all the stuff...



So add those levels together and you get my lifetime # of levels. The X and the oxygen molecule diagram represents a hardcore oxygenarian (aka oxycore) ascension, wherin you have no access to your pre-ascension inventory and cannot get any items that you don't get from adventuring or NPC stores. You also cannot eat food or drink booze, two of the things that allow you to get more adventures each day. It's the hardest kind of ascension out there. I took a break twice (once during the oxycore and once in the following ascension), which is why the days they took are off. My grand total worth in items and meat (the currency) is 42,902,211 meat. Pretty respectable. I have a lot of said worth in investments, so I'm getting richer all the time. I'm currently level 20 and I'm just spending my days making and selling food. I'm going to revive my other account as soon as NS13 (huge content and gameplay update) is rolled out. I've ascended a few times on that account, as well.

I much prefer the ascension mechanism to the level grind. There are so many quests and different areas to adventure in that it takes a while for it to get stale, and the new content constantly being added (usually every Tuesday) means that there's always something new to see. I've mostly concentrated on gaining wealth rather than get a high level (for which there really isn't much incentive) or speed-ascend.

Though, that was a private server. >_>
