oh bugger, i really dont wwant to have to pirate cc.
i might pay for it, but i think it should stay free, or people will just keep the test builds instead. not that it isnt worth anything, you could definetly sell it, as it is a tre awsm game.

I'd guess that it would be around $20, which is mowing a lawn or two. It's really not that much...

Amusing. I think it speaks for itself when I use a Windows Emulator to (try to) run a game on Linux.

The fact that Windows runs games that Linux doesn't does not make it superior. It just means you have different priorities.

Post Work in Wine
Why does nobody check the wine AppDB? http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=8116
I have tested cortex command in wine all the time and now with version 0.9.37-38 CC works flawlessly in fullscreen!

I'm surprised that they accepted the test data and added the game in appDB just in 9hours :o

Please post your results in the appDB if it work or doesn't.
Also: Thanks Data! I couldn't believe that it worked as good as it did in windows with wine! :D

Np ;) .33 is the "stable" version of wine. But i changed long ago to the unstable to get all the new updates when they arrive. (I haven't had any stability issues what so ever)

Be sure to add you results when you manage to upgrade!
What dist are you using BTW?

Kubuntu 7.10, updates always come pretty slow since they have to go from Debian unstable -> Gusty -> Feisty backports, which is a bit of a pain sometimes.

Anyways, I added the repository on the WineHQ site and am currently copying my CC install to this laptop.

Yeah, it is a pain in the as when the updates isn't available on your dist. :(
I'm really eager to find out if it works for anyone else but me. :)
Don't forget to run it in fullscreen!

Well, I'm trying it in both windowed and fullscreen with a fresh install and I keep getting thousands of problems that have something to do with "fixme:dsound underrun detection". Can you post more about your WINE config?

So it doesn't run at all?
I'm afraid i have to give you my all wine .reg files to copy the config.
If it runs well then there is no "problem" even if the terminal spits out lots of errors.

The only thing i can think of is that i use windows version XP and OSS emulation in the winecfg settings.
Can you post more of the errors?

Just a blank screen. Perhaps I should wait a while after that?

Try that. If you waited more then 15min then something is wrong. (mine starts up in like 5sec) But it could be slower because you on a laptop. (If it's not a really good one that is)
If nothing else works try rebooting. Solved some problems for me in the past. (I know that is not the best way)

Also try to press enter or escape. In some cases the game is running but you don't get any visual output. (Never happened to me though)
