Reopened: A CC Wiki
Hello, folks. For those who haven't figured it out yet, its ProjektTHOR, your best friend. Yes, I'm allowed to be here. Anyway:
I want to know how many of you would like me to reopen the CC wiki. I took it offline after no one edited it after my ... departure ... but I'd like to see if there is general interest before I take the time to do it.
What I ask of you all is that you post relevant ideas, projects, and pages that you feel should exist in the wiki. Let no comment be considered retarded, or any idea lame.
How I plan on doing this is this: I will take everyones suggestions for pages, and privately create the base of this Wiki. Myself and a few volunteers (which I will accept applications for in this thread) wil create the base of the Wiki, and then we will open the Wiki to the public!
So, let me know who wants to help and what ideas you all have. Name everything! Also, initial volunteers get to be admins!

I volunteer. I consider myself a capable writer.
OK, ideas.
Well, we will need background on critical people like Data and Promster. Um, a run-down of some of the most popular mods, scenes. An FAQ. A controls and instructions section. A brief modding tutorial. A brief spriting tutorial. Fan-art section (best pieces only). A links page. Um, that's really all I can think of at the moment.
Thanks.

Oh, yeah. But this is out of the jurisdiction of the regular mods.
We appoint them. It's completely self-governed.

As a test, put the Cortex Command game icon in this page:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Game_icons
Under the proper format as the rest, of course.
For example, the Zsnes icon has the page:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Zsnes_icon.png
Which, as you can see, has a link to the page of the game that owns it. Thus, wikipedia has a link to the cortex command page.
It may not be a wiki page about the game, but in all honesty i can never see ANYONE thinking this is an "Advert" as it's merely just the game icon, and reference to the source. (If they do, they'll expose their bias and we can trap them) While your at it, add various other game icons you guys have; fill that page out with icons from new games like Quake 4, Doom 3, World of WarCraft, etc. (which should be legit, because i see emulator icons in there)
That, and i think Irishf and the rest dont 'patroll' (can't spell patroll without troll) the 'commons' wikipedia page, so we should be safe from their dumb-assery for a while.

Absolutely. This is a completely separate project from the forums, controlled by a completely different set of people.
If this is a problem with the forum moderating staff, James, or Data, they need to let me know and we can work on incorporating the Wiki into http://www.datarealms.com
I will gladly provide the database for James to upload if he offers me an opportunity to help with an official wiki project.
The website is currently co-located at http://creating.themachinery.net/wiki, but I hope to have either a domain-name redirect or a domain cloak set up soon.

So here's the dealio.
For the time being, I am giving primary admin status to the following people:
* Daman
* Purple
* Nfsjunkie
Currently, the database is locked and you cannot write to it. You can create accounts, so for the time being, everyone interested in contributing should please sign up. I will post updates when certain articles are created.
All users will be able to edit any pages, but only the admins can create new pages. The one exception for this will be a Mod space that I will create, allowing any and all users to post any and all mods they've created.
Eventually, I will open a single page for everyone to edit. This page will be a to-do list of items to create. We will concentrate on creating a small amountn of articles at a time, say two or three, and we will complete them before continuing on to another article.
Once we cover the basic facets of how ot play and how the game works, we will open the Wiki to the addition of Mods and other add-ons.

Again, I need Daman, Nfsjunkie, and Purple to definitely create accounts. I have to put you in an admin group in order for you to have write permissions.
Hopefully, if I did this right, the only users who can create new pages are going to be Daman, Nfsjunkie, Purple, and myself. Everyone else can edit already created pages. This is to ensure that we have no stub articles and people are motivated to complete an entire article before moving on.

I'd say that's because of the comma in the URL ^_^... You might want to edit that post (put a space before the comma or put it out of the url tags)
Also, why would it only be admins who can make new topics?
Oh wait. Fourth post. Nevermind.
