Difference between materials and "active materials"
What is the difference? If I fly a rocked through the ground, and make half of the levels material dissapear, it is LAGGIER than it was before I dug the hole. You'd think with less material, the game would be LESS laggy. The explanation I came up is that the dirt becomes "involved" and needs more processor power to run it. And dead robots take up more proccesor power than they should. Isn't that unnecessary? Someone care to explain it all?

Dead things go into the background, that is why the float, if the material stops move in, then it sticks to the background untill move in by a unknown force.
Isn't that Newtons first law?

Depends actually on how you hit the ground... Often enough half the particles you hit on impact the first time fly upwards at high speed.

Well mostly I'm curious as to why I can run the whole map fine, but throw in 10 robot corpses and 2 or 3 rockets, and I'm lagging. From such little added material.

We're going to optimize the heck out of things eventually, so should run a lot better then!
