That and the fact that it uses the palette to get which materials to use with TerrainObjects.
Huh?
HUH?
Anybody think of that?

A good example of how this game would look at high bit graphics is just look at the game soldat: http://www.soldat.pl/
(Ps: CC owns Soldat )

The color pallet was never really a problem for me, i mean I'm not very artistic at all but i DO wish that it had more than like 2 purples since making covenant weapons from halo is challenging when you have like redish orange, and less red-redish orange, to work with. =/

It has some physics like Water and the newest of them supports 32 bit graphics.
It looks really cool and I spent hours playing online.
It costs 15 Euro.

I saw it, tried it, and was bored in a few minutes. Just my opinion. It is cool that you can make just about infinite game modes and items.

Also, because the controls are not that easy.

Re: CC doesn't support RGB,Why?!
Yes, I know this thread is old. But the question is not. I think Cortex Command would run faster in RGB mode. RGB mode: - Usually hardware accelerated
- Easier to do (as developer)
- Enables the use of shaders
Color index mode: - Rarely hardware accelerated
- Only 256 colors
- Saves memory
On today's hardware, memory consumption is not a problem. Color index mode doesn't offer any advantages, does it?

Re: CC doesn't support RGB,Why?!
♥♥♥♥, when did we get a shipment of holier-than-thou noobs who need 32bpp sprites in a retro game? oh, 2007. Cortex Command is rendered in 32 bpp, you just cant colour sprites outside of the palette. the current glow rendering system, as well as elements of the HUD are all 32bpp, using the colours given by the palette to render over. the palette serves a variety of purposes, heres a sample: Aesthetics. This includes but is not limited to the retro feel, and arne's art style. Indexing Materials (as TLB said) Transparency Handling without alpha, and as a result, Atomgroup Generation. Enraging untalented artists. Other than that, CC doesnt use hardware acceleration, afaik. And that is an epic necro.
