Post Poutine.
Welcome to cooking with Dauss! I'll be your hostess, Dauss.

Today we'll be bringing something I grew up with and eat at least twice a week to the rest of you ignorant and suffering Americans!

POUTINE!

Image

Let's see what our viewers have to say about poutine:

"What the hell is that?" - A British guy on my MSN.

<Mombasa> What the hell is a poutine

<PAUL> what the hell is it again

<Dauss> Fries with cheese curds and hot gravy.
<Mombasa> Hmm
<Mombasa> I'm trying to imagine that
<Mombasa> Not working : /

Clearly, poutine invokes images of Hell.

I was so surprised that no one outside Canada know what it is, I had to inform you all to eat it. (Hell, even Firefox says 'Poutine' is a misspelled word.)

It's even simple to make! Get some fries, cook them, get some beef gravy and cheese, (Doesn't have to be curds, your preference.) heat up the gravy hot enough to melt the cheese, and pour it over the cheese and fries. ♥♥♥♥ TASTY.

Go on now, discuss some food in your country no one else has ever heard of.

Cheese, gravy, and fries. It's so logically delicious, that I am shocked that these people have never heard of it before.

If anyone else would've recommended this, I would have slapped them. But I will have to try this out, Dauss

I've had it, it's delicious. I highly recommend it.
I found it funny, coming from the states, that immediately after crossing the border, all McDonalds on Canadian soil had poutine on the menu. Cross back over to Maine, and none of them have it.

A bite of this stuff will stop your heart.

Probably the least healthy food in existence.

It's kinda like chili cheese fries in principle, but more like mashed potatoes and gravy in taste. Least, that's what I remember from five years ago when I last had it.

this is the least healthy food i've ever seen since eggs in a basket in the thread I did about cooking. did I start a trend back then? maybe it should just be cooking with DRL?

anyway that sounds absolutely disgusting, Gravy + cheese... it makes me want to vomit just saying that. replace the gravy with bacon and sour cream and you have my vote.

Being Canadian and having eaten poutine before, I have to say that it's definitely not my favorite. If the gravy is even slightly too salty it can be just... bad. Anyway, thumbs up for bringing it to the attention of everyone else.

Balut, or duck fetus egg. It's boiled so it's edible.
