Why would you buy so many when you only have one group willing to play and that group sucks.

I've been collecting my books for the last 5 years, and I've had OTHER groups to play with in the past. but since I have no car, and there's no gameing stores for miles and miles, and the only people I play with are my room-mates. 1 is my friend, one is my step-brother and a ♥♥♥♥. everyone else is my step-brothers friends who can actually drive. None of my friends play D&D, and the only 1 that does, is in colledge AND working full time, an hour away.

So I bought all those books before I had a ♥♥♥♥ party.

Hey I'll give it a go if you tell me what you need for DnD. I'm new to that but I've played Dark Herasy a lot and also some Runes Quest (there ain't no school like old school). Most of my friends shun DnD pen and paper for some reason, yet they'll happily play the computer game, less hassal (and less fun) I guess

okay, Metal_militia, D&D is simple to do.

you need 1 DM, The dungeon master, who controlls the game. If you compare it to a video game, this guy is your computer, or the game-server, or the game itself.

You need your players. This is in addition to the DM.

You need a MINIMUM of 2 of the books.
The Dungeon Masters Guide (DMG)
and the Players HandBook (PHB)

Also, You need Dice, 2D4, 3D6, 2D8 1D10 1D12 1D20 and a set of D%
What does that mean, A D4 Is a Die, with 4 sides, it looks like a pyramid. A D6 is 6 sides, its a cube. When you see a number like 3D6, that means 3, 6 sided dice.

Next you need Character sheets. These can just be photo-copied character sheets found in the PHB, Or you could even just use note-book paper. NEVER USE PEN, I can NOT stress this enough, If you use pen, then you get a new item that changes your armor, your attack, or any stat or skill, you'd have to re-make your sheet, which is why you don't use pen.

Last 4 things. There simple: Pencils, paper for maps, Pizza, Pop

For best results, Devote a good 6+ hours to the game, non-stop, with the exception of going to the bathroom or answering the door for the pizza guy.

Typically you would play all weekend, and then not continue for at least a week, this way you play ALOT, then you take a break, for life. DO NOT play every day, because then you'll never finish school or get a job, and this is bad. you'll also be that dork living in his moms basement wearing chain-mail that they have on reno 911, if you play every day.

More info. Each player has there own character sheet, pencils, and extra paper for notes, and maps.
It is also best if every player has there own set of dice.

I also said to have 2D4 and 2d8 because some weapons call for that for damage. If you play a spell-caster your going to need LOTS of dice, or you'll be re-rolling ALOT (Fireball, 10D6... thats alot of dice....)

the DM should probably have extra dice, and know at least most of what he's doing.

The players each read the players hand book, make there characters, This is everything the players get to see. The DM has access to everything. Any extra books are just that. Extra. If the DM Allows it, PHB 2 is a player book, as are things like complete divine, Book of exalted deeds, Complete{whatever class type}, etc.

The DM Should also have the monster manual.

Other than that, Imagination, and maybe some minatures. Oh yeah, And patience.

I covered that. Players hand book, and Dungeon masters guide, The DM could use the monster manual(s) or make up his own encounters. thats all you really NEED book wise

Really, you have everything you need.
An internet connection and a computer capable of opening a browser.
With that, the world is at your command.
Miles- I'm going to go over a lesson you may have learned in kindergarten.
DO NOT PLAY WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT NICE TO YOU.

So they're all nice, but they hate you and try to make you miserable?
Are you masochistic?

not what I ment.

There isn't anyone who IS nice to me, (except my mate), My roommates are, My step brother, and HIS friend, and then my mate. Everyone I play D&D with, is my step brother, and HIS friends.

I'm ready to kick his ass on the street though cause of how much of a ♥♥♥♥ he is, and that he never pays rent, or gets a job, or tries, and the lease IS in my name... I was being nice, and this is the ♥♥♥♥ I get. Does anyone know why I'm still as nice as I am?

2 or so words:
DnD FTW

This reminds me of Banzai Bear, the ursine casted with flight who stole everyone's hearts... by attempting to divebomb them to death and then rolling a 0 and crashing.

I know how to play, but I have a total of 0 DnD books. So I might need some obscure elements explained to me.

I would really love to play as long as its a loose kinda game, like having a pigeon as a druid pet, or as long as it doesn't deft physics, or something else, you can do anything you want.

I mean DnD with fun rules, like Hargoth's Tomb. (Which is a MP3 of people playing a DnD game that is downloadable on tindeck)

Thanks for that, it gave me many a hearty chuckle.

Seriously though, guys, if nobody's going to start a game I'm going to kill myself with a piece of string, four chocolate chip cookies, and a bumblebee.

Specifically.
And videotape it.
