vagyr wrote: how aboute a variation??? a pulse rifle with auto fire and a pulse rifle with a single shot... this way everybody gets what they want and we are all happy... it is realy easy... That is the most reasonable statement i've heard all day, you could technically make them look different to, IE Painted different. you know, Tau Empire Vs O'Shova The tau would use the auto-fire, but O'Shova is all about taking things out from the un-seen distance, hence his nick-name, Farsight. If you do it, make it 2 RTEs listed as Tau Empire, and Farsight Enclave, this way they could have different Icons and be categorized/grouped by faction. the tau empire would have kroot and vespids, but the farsight enclave would have more human auxilliarys (O'Shova started that trend, and it was carried on by Shas O Rymar) I would help with it, but My code-skills aren't spectacular, neither are my sprites, BUT I do have a hefty number of books that could help out, that I can scan and type the contents of to make sure these are perfect. When it comes to that, changes would get made as I find the 100% correct info (IE 50 to a clip on all pulse weapons, save the pistol, or the photon grenades being just a bright flash that distracts the enemy) Is that an acceptable amount of help? For that, i'll post things in a code-box, so that its broken apart and legible piece by piece. here's one to start with just because I feel like it. (i dunno) Code: Photon grenades
Photon grenades distract the enemy, and do not destroy terrain, or do any damage. the only 2 things that 'distract' the AI, are other actors, and bullets. Since a grenade spawning actors would be bad, with kill counts, use bullets.
So when the photon grenade goes off, make it turn into an emitter, that just sprays harmless bullets. the AI will duck from the bullets, but the bullets can be harmless, and even invisible.
Just make them emit for a few seconds. I dont know 100% if the above will work, but if someone would like to test to see if this works as a separate RTE, so that if it works, the photon grenade in this mod could be made to not be map-raep. Sure it's a fun grenade to use, but it's not a photon grenade. FNORDAlso i'm sorry if it seems like i'm hijaking this, i'm not trying to, I'm just trying to help make this as good as it can be. this could go 2 ways, good tau, or not tau but still good.

Miles, don't forget, gameplay > fluff. So, if it feels more balanced with auto/semi fire, or les rounds in the magazine, that's ok. Same with the jetpack. Just like the cool guy before said, it's better to have the jetpack for the Fire Warrior, because if you are playing like Ork vs Tau, it gets kinda annoying that you can't get back to your roof for sniping.

DO NOT FORGET THAN I AM NOT THE CREATOR OF THE MOD!!! i just love the mod... also i think than the pulse rifle must stay the same at the looks becose first of all i suck at spriting and secondly it is still the same gun just on a difrent firing mode... is it possible than someone posted a list with the actual tecnical characteristics of the weapons(fire rate ammo capacity and range)???

Just make them emit for a few seconds. this looks easy... if you lower the mass and sharpness then the result would be a harmless projecktile...

I understand that, but actually in the link that was on the front page when they had jump, they had a NICE jump, they could jump a good 96 pixels up, they where grasshoppers. But regardless of that, yes i know, FUN is important, for now yes, jetpacks are fine, but if any battlesuits are done, make sure they have them (not broadsides), and get rid of them on the firewarriors/pathfinders/kroot Honestly, Kroot should have a jump that could send them like 200 pixels forward, and should be able to survive any fall, See:Leap attack in dawn of war. I hate kroot, except in dawn of war, or chapter approved as there own army.(see kroot mercenarys) FNORDKroot with eviceraters = win. Yes, fun is important, and I do like sniping as single-shots, but thats just not all that the pulse rifle is, thats what the rail rifleis, speaking of which, its range needs fixed, pulse rifle = 32", rail rifle = 30", right now the revolver and the rail rifle have the same range.

But I'm pretty sure you need to ask permission if you're using his coding...

Hence the re-do. with the changes that would be made it would be, New ammo, new bullets, New sprites, new gun. and he sure as hell didn't make the sounds himself, and some of the sprites where submited by other people. If he re-does it to that extent, it should be a new thread.
