Post So... Game Maker.
Hi guys. I am back from... it feels like 2 years. Could be 6 months... maybe.

Anyways, I am not here to troll, and I am not here to be trolled.

Has anyone here used Game Maker before?

www.yoyogames.com

Ive used it sporadically for a few years, on an off. I haven't made any good games yet. From ages 10 to 13... this sounds very sad... because it is, I would just take other people's games (if they were open source), or take the examples, and just reskin them and add some stuff, making some really terrible games. Me and Coded One are working on a game together, and I have made everything from scratch. Will be an epic spacestation based top down zombie shooter, but not similar to Dead Space.

The team fortress 2 demake Gang Garrison 2 was made in Game Maker. Coded One has ran into several games made in game maker that he never knew were game maker.

If you paid attention, my typing and sentence piecing should be far better. Yes, typos could be there, everyone makes typos, even grammar and spelling nazis do. However, I rarely use 1337, and when I do, it is in an opportunity that grants it (Sarcasm, "What is "leet""), etc.

I've dabbled in it. People have been making some cool ♥♥♥♥ lately with it.

Didn't Yukio make death worm in it?

Also welcome back, for some reason I'm tolerating you enough to actually read your thread instead of flame you. n.n

Yep, Death Worm has been made in Game Maker. My personal favorites from game maker are also Garden Gnome Carnage, Iji, and Clean Asia.

Also, I have looked back at my previous posts. Damn, I was a gigantic idiot. I should probably use an alternate persona, but considering my name could still be in the minds of people, once figured out, more respect will be lost. I might as well try to recover with my shreds of reputation than become some fake noob.

And yes, I have quit maplestory, furry, and such. Yes, I am still a "weeaboo", and although I disagree with this term (being applied to me), do as you wish.

That's okay I myself am turning into a complete weeaboo just to see how long I can last before I get an overwhelming urge to kill myself.

So far I can only find three artists from Japan I tolerate and am longing for my shitty emo music.

ONTOPIC:

Wasn't there a game a lot like Cave Story made in game maker? I think I remember that, maybe I'm just crazy.

I would also recommend Adventure Game Studios, not limited to adventure games as Yahtzee proved when he made platformers like Art Of Theft or 1213 in it.

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/

All kinds of creative and interesting stuff made with this.

I forgot to add, tigsource, I don't know the URL, it has a rather large amount of games there made with game maker.

Game maker is as powerful as the user is. Only a handful of users need to theorize how to get around the limitations. I won't reply to any such trolling associated with "Flash is better than Game Maker". I prefer Game Maker for games, Flash for animations. Anyways, the visual effects in game maker can be downright sucky (Look up 90 percent of the games. They are made by 12 year olds), but some have some really amazing visuals, such as Solar Blue.

3D isn't that well developed yet, the best 3D is "Crimelife", and it has only GTA 3 graphics at best.

It is getting there, though.

It's getting there, but those are definitely not GTA3 graphics.

GTA3 had more polygons on the cars.

Those are pretty nice graphics, given the nature, but GTA3 had more polygons in general.

Yeah, it was just the cars on Game Maker that stood out so much more for me. You know, what with it probably being a low-poly model with a single texture pasted onto it.

Well, it's progress, at least. n.n

Source SDK kicks GameMakers ass and its free if you own a source game.
A fully developed engine with everything used to make Half Life 2.
Theres soooooooooooo many cool things you can learn.
Mapping is super easy and fun it's like building with clay.

[edit] Fixed thread stretch on my end

I'm not saying game maker is obsolete or anything its a great program but Source SDK is
more simple to use and has fully functional 3D.

Orvos, I am not flaming you, or trying to be mean. And yes, older Datarealms members will know, advice... from me... is just plain ironic.

If you don't have anything to contribute, and want to act like an ass, then please, do not post. Please start your own thread on the Source SDK. The Source SDK is more powerful in making FPSes. That is true.

But it isn't Game Maker. Game Maker is like a boat, and Source a car. Game Maker can't ride the lands of FPSes. Source SDK cannot float on the oceans of other games.

Orvos, I do not want to have you on my bad side. I know that trolls are terrible, and that make you want to leave a forum. I am not trolling. If I was talking in real life, it would be in the sort of a teacher putting a student in a lecture.

I don't like it when people post this kind of stuff on my thread. What if I came into your SDK thread and posted:

Quote:
GameMaker kicks SourceSDKs ass and its free if you own get the lite version. A fully customizable system that helps you make any engine you desire. Theres soooooooooooo many cool things you can learn. Creating is super easy and fun it's like playing God.

Also, I would prefer to have a system where I can make ANY sort of engine I want. Game Maker is from scratch. Source SDK is like Hamburger Helper.

Wow, what an ignorant thing to say. The two are barely comparable.

Game Maker gives you some tools to make 2d games and you have to register for all the features.
Source SDK has full 3D includes textures models and everything you need to make a commercial quality game.
Game Maker does have its advantages over Source but source is also fun and easy to make stuff in.

Really all I was trying to say is that source is a nice alternative to gamemaker.
Sorry I pissed you guys off I really didn't mean to, now can we please fix the stretch.

Yes I am a moron ill try my best not to be though.
