If I ever make mod on any given forum, I think I'll want to put (sp) after every single spelling and grammar error that I find. It should help things.

I believe Data said that the current AI routine, which is the same for both starting AND bought actors, is to shoot a ray (a line used for detection) in a random direction. If it hits another clone without touching a wall or any grass or anything, then the clone has seen the enemy. Then, they shoot that same ray again, and if THAT ray hits, they fire.

I shouldn't think it should make any difference between starting actors and bought ones. It's possible the starting actors get two shots a loop due to a coding abnormality, but I doubt it, and that wouldn't make them fire much more. (Twice as much, and since it's gotta be less than 1% of the time a normal clone shoots, it would be less than 2%.) Needless to say, neither attacks much, but the more of their view the enemy takes up, the more likely it is for them to shoot. (Closer, or larger objects.)

@P3lBox: No, more like this: 2 clones are standing there and one says "here comes the enemy!" And the other clone looks at his gun and holds it a wrong way and says something like, "H0w d0 w0rK mak3 iT?" 1337 speaak for n00bishness.

c,o,m,m,a, r,a,p,e,d, b,i,t,c,h,e,s. Is that enough commas? :D Just kidding around. I have had bought actors shoot things by themselves, just not custom bought actors. or non custom bought actors with custom weapons.

Post Re: Computer AI
Today, DRL, we see a new member, a bad member, and a good member all in action.

The new member is RazorsharpLT. Dear new member, please check the last date in a post before you post. As this topic was over a year old, nobody probably remembers what went on in it. The community looks down upon necros with no contribution because they're annoying. That's all.

The bad member is Roy-G-Biv. He posted to say that he reported the necro. The irony of this is obvious. Bad Roy.

The good member is Sixteen, he reported the necroing post and left the topic alone. Good job.

I hope this can be a learning experience for us all here at DRL.
