ChaosEmerald: That's exactly what it's going to be like.
Data's already sort of gone over the metagame, and it's almost exactly like that.

Do you think he's going to put an "Enable mods" button in there for the campaign? Or do you think he's going to put it in there as a bonus for when you win?

I don't think he has a way to restrict mods yet.
If he does, it'd be kind of cool to have them as a reward; beat the whole campaign, unlock new game with extras, namely mods.
But, so far, I've seen no evidence of selective lockouts; either it's gone altogether, like B19, or it's all allowed. I suppose that having a lockout on campaign missions only wouldn't be that hard, but who knows?

Re: So, is the campaign going to be linear,
With mods, it would become a BIT too unbalanced. I think just one AAL Marine could take out most of a base with standard actors. Or maybe all of it.
EDIT: Or he could have modders add a "Mod Level" variable into their mods. Higher Mod Levels need more gold and more missions completed.

You people just said everything i ♥♥♥♥ explained in my first post.
In the first post I talked about risk like gameplay, just worded differently, and I talked about pricing of actors and units (What in the ♥♥♥♥ did you think i meant by "trading guns"? or mod corps with their own planets?)

You trade it for another one. Done. Mod corps with their own planets? Where did anyone say that in the last few posts?

You were just talking about unbalanced mods.

Re: So, is the campaign going to be linear,
I was talking about an enable mods button. By corp planet, I thought you meant a planet made by modders with their own bunkers and units. By "ModLevel" I meant that you would need to have completed more missions to use them.

Also, in the Official boards, they had most of the campaign lined out, but that's probably entirely different now. Not to toot my own horn, but I suggested that absolute yonks ago. Back in the B17 days, I believe. I phrased it as a Warhammer 40K: Dark Crusade-style campaign, though.

The game making process doesn't usually involve making everything up as you go along.

I look forward to seeing the planet chart but I reckon that'll be a atleast 3 or 4 builds.
It'll be some good art.

Re: So, is the campaign going to be linear,
WHAT IF!!! Game play like chaosemerald said and planets for corps but the game work like this. You can make your own characters appearance with different colored part of regular coalition parts. When you click campaign, it brings up a map of th galaxy with default planets being the levels to complete in the regular campaign. Finishing them all lets you play them with mods etc...
NOW Corp planets, story-wise they would be big artificial planets. The corp can design them like they want in a .bmp file. they are a mods that are put into campaign mode and u can click it and play there. Once you click the planet it brings up a menu and you can play on any of the maps that corp has released and with all the mods that the corp released. Now you would use the money that you saved up from campaign to buy the actors/weapons/crafts etc... the corp released. you can only use that corps stuff on the corp planets unless the .ini in the mod file for the planet says u can use standard cc stuff. yeah thats it so whadya think!?
