What do you guys think?

At which point would we, the mod makers, get the profit? Every mod you see out there for CC is a fan created thing. I'd be "slightly" pissed off if someone would make money out of my hard work and not even mention me.

You are right about most of the points, but MILLIONS (Caps for seriousness) of people use Xbox Live, and Millions use the Marketplace. If CC got on XBLM, they would advertise the sweet jesus out of it, and it would go on http://www.majornelson.com

EDIT: Also, if the mods aren't free, the game dies.

I think trying to work out if more people use Xbox marketplace or the Playstation store is kinda impossible, not to mention irrelevant unless data comes into this thread and says "Gee forum-types, you've swayed me, which shall I make it for?". Either way, I dont doubt the consoles would poop themselves over CC, but I wonder once again if it is remotely possible to shift all the paticle physis calculation rubbish to the GPUs, because then it might be plausible. (Albeit still unlikely as all hell)

I'd just like to point out that UT3 for the PS3 has a workable mod system which is fairly easy to use.

CC isn't finnished yet
and even if it would be available at xbox live marketplace you wouldn't be able to download mods

For UT3, a fairly large console FPS with a fairly small modding community. There's also the fact that UT3 mods are usually fairly large, and have much more time and effort involved in their creation. CC mods can be two minutes in Notepad and ten minutes of spriting.

I've been a casual fan of CC for quite some time now. I logged on to this forum for the first time to see if there was any discussion about a console port for CC, and low and behold. :)

Grif, Microsoft (or Sony) would not 'own' a part of CC if it were released on Xbox Live. Data would retain ownership of the IP. Microsoft would receive a percentage of the game's sales on the Xbox Marketplace, but this is SOP for the gaming industry.

As for porting the game to the Xbox or PS3, Data would probably need to out-source console development to a third-party with the manning and expertise to make it happen. Again, this wouldn't mean Data would have to give up the rights to CC.

The hardware barrier is a problem, but I've seen amazing things done with consoles far in excess of what their hardware specs would suggest is possible. :???:

Mods wouldn't be an obstacle to sales as has been shown by sales of Morrowind and Oblivion on consoles. Data Realms could hand-pick the best user-created mods and make them available for download in expanision packs. There's no reason you couldn't include the level editor with "CC Live," as has been done with many other console games in the past.

Just my .02

I would prefer it on the PSP rather that the 360. My only concern would be the handhelds processing power. Unless of course the PSP slim has some revamped specs.

Anyone know?

It does, but it's only a 50% increase. From ~222MHz to ~333, I think.

Oh the lag, the horrible horrible lag

Anyways, whovever mentioned earlier the possibility of a usb keyboard and ini editor on a 360 (Lord Tim?). Why would you want to do that? You can do all that on a pc plus loads of other stuff (spriting) 50 times better on a good pc.

You fail.
The only difference between Slim and Fat is 32mb of RAM missing in the latter (and the weight, size and energy consumption rates...).

HEY GUYSH, YOU ALL FAIL BECUZ OF MAH EXPAHTISE WITH DEM PSPs. BEHOLD MY SIUPEIROR INTELELCT

Morrowind and Oblivion are great games without mods, whereas CC probably won't last too long without them, depending on how long the campaign is.
