Post So, is the campaign going to be linear,
Or is it going to be a TBS type meta-game where you end up controlling the universe?

Honestly, I'd love to give CC a strategy flare, and so far we have very little on the campaign. I'm really hoping I didn't spend my 20 dollars 3 months ago on a bunch of random linear "defend" and "Attack" scenarios.

I mean, if we had any sort of TBS system, hell we wouldn't even need one, just a way to click a planet and bring up a menu, could open so many doors.

For one things, corps could actually mean something because you'd have to either make trade routes to them or uncover their planets, whatever. Scavenging weapons would MEAN something because if you transported troops to a couple planets to stage and assault you could arm them with the leftovers from the last battle. Weapons could be sold at half price to people, and hell, if it was really my true dream game, we could even open up factories and end up selling weapons to people for money, as opposed to early game mining.

Hell, I know the campaign is going to be a linear Attack and Defend sort of game, but I just wish he would make it deeper than that.

Campaign... I think it will not be linear
more about leveling up your funds, and tech until you're leet enough, then there'll be some story missions which triggers so the story flow works
Star Control 2 had something like that
so you can set the buy menu to only include "Coalition"

LUA will be implemented in the next build. Nothing will be linear.

One thing I feel the need to point out to you guys, as much as I might not like it myself.

However, we are working on things that should improve Cortex Command in a couple of big ways over the next several builds:

Lua scripting. [...]

If my understanding of that wording is right, lua isn't necessarily going to be in b21

Data said once that he'd like to make a metagame type thing. There's a bunch of places on the planet, and you take control of it slowly by doing battles in each location. Potentially nonlinear.

Also, in the Official boards, they had most of the campaign lined out, but that's probably entirely different now.

That's totally kick ass news. I can't wait to see what we're going to get over the next few builds

Glad I found this game at the right time, when it's at its cheapest

I look forward to new types of terrain different from the normal grassy plains. Dont get me wrong the scene we have now is fine and even if there isnt any others I wouldnt even mind that much... well not that much.

I'm talking about proper scenes released in the game.

ppiksmada, please stop trying to contribute to this thread because every time somebody has said something you're terribly misinterpreted to it and tried to appear smart at the same time.

Anyway, if that's the case I'll wait until Summer (patiently) if it means we get a non-linear campaign.
