Post Quad core.
I just recently bought an Q6600 and I was wondering if it will run Cortex Command better since it's a quad. Also, should I overclock it to maybe, 3.0 Ghz? Thanks to you, bye.

1. No, and, 2. only if you know what you're doing.

It won't boost your performance because CC isn't a threaded application, plus they don't even make applications that thread to four cores anyways.

2. If you overclock, you void warranties. And if you're dumb, and do it wrong, you ♥♥♥♥ your computer beyond repair. So, only overclock if you actually do know what you're doing, and have gotten a third-party to confirm that, meaning that you or one of your friends confirming your ability to overclock does NOT count.

Pretty much summed it up succinctly. Quad-cores are not cost-effective in the home/small business market yet.

Even Crysis only uses about 20 percent of first core and around 4 percent of the other cores...

There's no way you can generalize that, dude. There are spots in Crysis that use little CPU and spots that use a good 70% of my 3.2 ghz CPU.

My 2.6 tries to curl up and die if I make too much stuff move/explode/etc at once in Crysis.

CC tends to run fast whenever it has enough RAM.

Yeah, RAM is CC's cocaine.

Its not a 2.6 dual-core I'm guessing?

I have a 2.66 dual-core and it does a'ok.
