Post ROTC Discussion
So yeah since the other topic was really meant more for posting pics, let's have an actual ROTC discussion in here.

So. I am in Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC). My high school is about thirty minutes away from an active military base.

I am a freshman, and as of today, my rank is Airman First Class. The attached image shows my placement on the rank hierarchy of the AFJROTC.

So, yeah, questions/comments/anything from other ROTC people, or questions/comments/anythings from people who are curious about ROTC, or just people who want to flame me for inexplicable reasons.

Ah, the US military sucking in the latest batch of idiot Americans to go get killed in their needless wars.

How did you get promoted anyway, and what duties does ROTC entail?

I got promoted for passing the "airman test"; basically a test on basic plebe knowledge. Plebe = cadet.

I got a 26 out of 27. Goddamn do I test well :D.

Anyways, you do realize that ROTC has absolutely no obligation to join the military attached to it, right?

Just for experience. It's basically like a job you have to study for. Also teaches leadership, and teaches the ability to follow orders.
Also marines are better.

I'm in army jrotc.

Corporal
(1 rank high than grif on my scale.)

And grif, they don't even let us have our uniform until we get 100% on our first test. We need to pass the cadet creed perfect, and ranks perfect.

Heh, I didn't know that NCO's upon reaching a certain rank became newbish CO's. In fact, I think you better fix your graph.
Unless there is such a thing as an AFJROTC Admiral.
Hilarious idea- Coast Guard Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.
You'd be called to war after the boy scouts in the Coastie Reserve.
Luls.

I'm a seargent in Army ROTC. It's essentailly an E-5 for all you nooblets. I worked my ass off for it. Which is retarded because my friend got seargent the day he joined because they said he "Just looked like a seargent." Damn the company comander.

Buuuut yeah. I got cadet of the month, I'm on drill team, I'm on flag detail, and I swear that half the guys in my ROTC are gay. It's kinda freaky. That's why I never, NEVER go into my ROTC's locker room.

It's scary in there...

EDIT: Here is my rank for army ROTC, A.K.A., the one thats circled.

Post Re: ROTC Discussion
Looks like we have more in common than I thought.

I'm a high school senior now, but I decided to give AFJROTC a shot this time(meaning I'm undergoing my first year). Liking it so far(especially since I get to go on trips on occasion, like the time where I went to an AFB to fly in a C-130 simulator!), though drill team practice eats up a lot of my free time(Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 3:30 to 5:00, or 1530 to 1700 hours if you prefer). (And, speaking of drill team stuff, we're heading to the AF Nationals in late March...does that mean I should look out for scary black men with giant meathammers, now that I know that someone else here is also in the program?)

I was the first to get Cadet of the Month, and also one of three people in my entire flight to pass the first promotion test(to E-2/Cadet Airman; another cadet promoted to the same rank, and my Flight Commander moved up to Cadet 1st Lieutenant). The only thing I'm miffed about is that EVERYONE gets to become a Cadet Airman when school resumes in January; to compensate, I have the opportunity to promote directly to Cadet Senior Airman.

Oh, and just so you know, it's not like we have much of a choice in which branch of JROTC we want to participate in. You attend which branch happens to be at your school-in my case, that's the Air Force.

(On another note, it's too bad that I didn't manage to get a copy of IL-2: 1946 for everyone to enjoy before the break began, as a little Christmas gift to the whole squadron. I figured that since we were going over WWII, and that we have a nice CH FS Yoke and Pro Pedals setup, maybe we could take part in some re-enacted battles and have something else other than bloody MSFS2004....)
