Post Any possible way to stop DS auto-scuttle?
Here the problem:

As some of you remember, ive made an ion cannon (ypsilon) that is based on a pinned dropship. And its thrusters are used as the weapons.

Now since B19, dropships automatically scuttle and gib if they remain in one spot for too long.

This resulted in the following:

Image

After a while when I launched the ion cannon, it was alright and remained active.
Then it suddenly blew up (due to Dropship's autoscuttle thing) but left the emitters up there to continue with the obliteration.

Now this means the ion cannon still works as it did with all the 3 phases, but now there is no way you can stop it if one appears above your base. Since the body blew up, but the emitters and thrusters remained there, invincible.

Now HOW am I supposed to stop the Dropship from performing autoscuttle so that you had atleast some kind of chance against stopping this disaster for 10 000 oz?

I don't think rockets have constant emitters.

Numgun, you still could make it a rocket.
You throw the bomb. Use the ion painter. Rocket appears.
You fire its main engine, which causes an wound that emits the beam.
Would it work?

But then if you shot at it, to try to stop it, you'd have a beam from every wound.

Orite. But it can have seperate sections that have different strenght?

Make the leg spawn the beam. The leg will be 1 pixel wide.

Wont work, dropships are perfect for this thing due to their 100% constant thrusters. Kallemorts suggestion is no good due to the wierd and random angle of the wound that would f*** up the whole thing.

I just need to stop the scuttling and nothing more, since the beam will work anyways even if the main section blows up. Its only the matter of having the ability to destroy it, which infact, is the major fun factor of this ion cannon.

It's been a while since I've modded, and I'm not familiar with the code now, but why CAN'T you use a rocket? When it tries to land/return, it turns on its thrusters, making them a sort of constant.

Just trying to help.

Sorry, I forgot to mention something important that the ion cannon needs aswell: Destroyable emitters. On the current rocket, the thrusters are hard coded to be invincible.

And the ion cannon needs these for its special funcions ive come up with.

And also one more point: you can NOT control the ion cannon.

Ok, how about this. Does it consider it stationary if it opens and closes its hatch?

Where is the hardcode?

I've never seen it before.

It's in the .exe and .dll files.
You know, the programming of the game.

In C or whatever language it is made in.

No idea on that one, since I tried making the hatchdelay and the exitinterval 9999999999 and after that even remove the whole exit code so it couldnt deliver anything. It still blew up.

Right now im trying to stick on the Status variable on the dropship, maybe that might do something...

If that doesn't work, maybe you could wiggle the engines in between phases? :/

Although I'm not sure how you'd make it do that.

Maybe you could make the actual beam waver by one pixel or so?
