Idea for in CC: Space Battles
I've been thinking about this for a while... CC could have space battles. Since the aliens are supposed to have advanced technology (from what we've seen so far) wouldn't they want to blast our beloved spacestation out of the sky? And besides, wouldn't it just be awesome to have space combat?

i think there should be a "protect spaceorder" sorta mode when you are in space
enemy ships atack the station that has like 10000000 hp, but thats not too much for a huge station, and you have to shoot down evemies to prevent the station from blowing up and the loss of ability to oreder stuff
maybe even taking over the station and goint gead to head with enemy mothership????
w00t!!! that might be a way to win the game!!!... when its out...

Yeah. Or we could implement outer-atmosphere play. You'd have space AND ground battles at the same time.. I'll make a screenshotty thing for that.

i think an easy way that space could be added to the game might be if the map was taller...
there would be the normal map at the bottom, but then instead of the now: top of the map, where ships disapear, there could be an atmospheric layer, then outer space with the station.
the station would be in a stationary position and rockets would have to dock with it- this could be made simpler by having craft be beamed up ( technically speaking, it would appear to be beamed up but it would actually be an area under the station that acts like the top of the map now )
if you fly off the top of the space area, you would just be lost in space and you would loose the craft.
maybe, to add realism, somehow the game would recognise that part of the screen as different and make it so items are wieghtless, and humans would die after a few seconds ( no oxygen )
* i think that would be cool, and probably would be some-what easy to do

Nice art there.
I think that it's a good idea. The atmospheric layer should have way more friction and the rockets should lose some health going through the atmosphere; Cause of the friction and speed of entering and stuff. Then again, it should just be kept simple for gameplay reasons. But actors should just gib to death in space.. There's no pressure in space, so the pressure inside a human body makes it 'explode'. I think beside this idea there should be all-space levels, maybe with entering the enemy ship. Screenie on this will follow.

hmmm... but what if you blow up a big ship... i think if its gonna be far from the planet it will stay in scpace floating around, but it its close then the planet will use its all mighty gravity anfd the ship will come crashing to the ground

And wouldn't crashing ships be the awesomest thing ever? Chaos all over.
So anyway. I've made a simple concept.
You see the two ships floating in space, and you exit and enter them in ships via docks (wide enough to fly through manually)
You have to get your assault party to the bridge to kill the brain.
Orders possibly come out through dispensers (torpedo-tube lookalikes?)

Rawr, in single player it can be 50% that your rocket/drop ship is under attack and you most steer the rocket/drop ship towards *planets name here* and try not to get shoot...
