Post Future of the Forums
Hello,

After thinking I've come to a few things to talk about, and your opinions on. Right now the forum is running okay right now but i see lots of trolling, spamming and flaming. I would like your guys ideas on how to fix this. I would also like some ideas on staff, Do you think someone should not be on it? or someone that should be on it?

I don't read every post, So this is why i need your opinions. Ways to clean the forum up, so we have a much cleaner forum in the future.

I never flame or directly insult anyone, simply because when I post, I imagine the reader reading it, and write it around what I think their reaction will be.

I suggest others do the same.

I just think you shouldn't implement new things and moderators based on the 2 minutes of your forum time.

But, other than that, there aren't any people I want gone.

I have some ideas...

For cleaning up language make the forum censor all types of the word in question. (there are shortcuts like "fuk" and "dik")

This might seem a little harsh but you could do a "3 strikes and your out" system. Like if a member directly attacks 3 or more times then the member would be banned for X amount of days depending on the seriousness of the attack.

I have no problems with any of the mods/admins at the moment. I think it should stay as it is.

I believe in free speech. If people speak like that, Well they will need to learn to cut the swearing on here. We can always warn them.

The forums are fine as long as no trolls and flamers are put in positions of power, and the current moderators at least make an attempt at equality.

No wordfilters unless there's an option to turn them off. People need to grow up here.

A system for banning wouldn't be that bad, though maybe more than 3 strikes. Like, warning, 1 day ban, 2 day ban, 3 day ban, permanent. Even though I couldn't enforce it. [/hint]

Also, 90% of the current global moderators don't logon enough.

To help control the flaming you could also do what they do at the GameMaker forum. They have a warning system.

If a mod or admin catches someone breaking a rule or flaming then they could warn the member, so many warnings and your banned.

(I dont really mind the cussing I was just giving a suggestion.)

i think that we could use another few mods, cuz pyroex hasnt been replaced (i think). the new mods could edit out people's huge ass flames and keep everyone in order.

for a ban system, id recommend one like runescape (i know, lol right?)
once you get 10 "black marks" you are perma banned. at 4 marks, a 3 day ban. at 8 marks, a week ban. at 9 marks, a 2 week ban, and 10 marks, a perma ban.

it would also help if we got pm's about a warning or something when we get one, like Thor sent us. so we know when we get them.

I also think that mods and admins should keep an eye out for members whose sole purpose is to flame/troll. Some of these members are:

FlamerOK MK II
KOremalF (Same person I think)

Yup, both of those are Seleia, banned so many times, on so many alts.

I'm frankly amazed that she hasn't been IP banned yet.
