Actually bolters DO fire explosive rounds,it works like this

The Bolter shot hits the enemy and creates a VERy painful entry wound then .5 seconds later it explodes causing even more damage,making it able to shatter skulls into millions of pieces and rip spines out the back of people.Oh and standard guardsmen can hold bolters,for the love of god vetern seargants can have a bolter AND a power sword,and as for being 9 feet tall,you are still wrong,they are about 7 feet tall.If you compare a new guardsman model with a new spacemarine model the spacemarine is not that much bigger.Fix what i just said and your mod will be GOLDEN OR PLATINUM PLUS
,oh yeah,and give the space marines armor that is about as good as a Crobo Mk3 and this will be golden

so make them taller

better armor

time delayed explosive rounds

makse them cost 200 gold a piece

first off, yes, bolters use explosive rounds
read the warhammer 40K, space marines Codex.
2nd, i did say that for a first mod, this is awsome,
when i origionaly wrote it, i thought it was made as the project, by a skilled moder,
if someone like numgun released this, it may or may not pass,
as far as firsts go, thats pretty epic.

its an OKAY mod, as far as mods go,
but as far as being good 40K stuff,
its far from finished.

also notice i didnt just say "OMG THIS SUCKS YOU SUCK"
i DID give constructive comments
i said things like "improve this, this and this, make this look more like THIS"
and gave reasons for it.

i want to see a good 40K mod.
they just need to know that if they dont get it perfect, it might get bashed ALOT.

i'm both giving them constructive comments,
and a "getting bashed 101 Primer"

they need to A) get this to be true to all the books, games, and other errata, if it is chapter approved, then its cannon, base it on this. so the core rules and codex, the novels, and imperial armor, or the chapter approved 200X books..

they need to B) get used to the idea, that untill they get it 100% perfect,
there will always be room for improvement, and some s**t-ball is gonna tell them exactly what isnt.

C) same as B), but they have to be able to take the insult, as a suggestion for improvement.
if someone says "your mod sucks because of this"
they have to understand that it doesnt mean "you suck" but rather "this part sucks, fix it to make it have less suck, here's why it sucks, work on that"

D) dont call me a deuchecunt.
its a very stupid word,
i mean, something used to clean internaly, and one of the things it can clean.
they cant be the same.
thats like cleaning a car with another car.
that word alone makes you sound less intelegent,
its not an insult, its a funny word that has no meaning.

i was told not to think i'm better than everyone .
i say dont assume that i'm less than you, and we'll find out.
i state my mind, and if i'm wrong, then hey, i learned something.
i've done ALOT of that this year, and i think everyone should suck it up and admit that EVERYONE, me, you, even data, can make a mistake.
the thing that data has,

i already stated that i suck at actors,
i could not do better on the space marine than he did.

the bolter.
if i studdied a few other mods, i could make the gun FUNCTION more like a real bolter,
unfortunatly,
if i cant do the entire thing, i wont do it at all.

its just that when i tried being all happy and helpfull and perky,
i got ground to dust, and have since become quite jaded. in everything.
its made me into a ♥♥♥♥♥ with good intentions.

before you tell me that i'm just blatently bashing them,
and that i'm wrong.
read the ENTIRE post,
and check your sources.
after all, i'm not the only one to say that "yes, bolters DO use explosive ammo"

firewarrior sucked, yes
but firewarrior suckd because it was a bad game, with VERY BAD PROGRAMING
on that note, graphics aside, i might have been able to make a better firewarrior, if i could mod a game like quake 4, or some other FPS.

they had a bad engine, and poorly programmed weapons (like the occasional bullet that shoots streight up, no matter where your aiming... dont you hate aiming down, and shooting, and getting a headshot on yourself, through your gun?)

firewarrior, has been kinda stricken from the record,
it was a mistake.
dont use a POS mistake of a game, to insult me.
you look silly doing it.

Games workshop did.
GW didnt make firewarrior, therefor it sucks.
also, Relic has been full of suck for the past few years.

i have not seen a single relic game that HASNT sucked, in a LONG time.

i havent figured it out. i never use it, its usualy at 500 or something.

i need to know if i can make high sharpness, low weight bullet, that will stop dead as soon as it hits,
but still damage what it hit (so that even if it insta-kills a robot, it wont pierce through to another, ever)

no, i'm not going to have an insta-kill stop on a pixel gun,
but i do need a gun that damages by sharpness, not weight,
that will not pierce anything, ever.
i was gonna start with the tau pulse riffle,
then switch when its done to the pulse carbine, and just go down the armor list for the tau.
i suck at actors, so i wont be makeing the actual... actors...
i also suck at sprites so it wont look that good.
i'm aiming for a correct, to cannon gun, graphics aside.
you guys who CAN do graphics, can just fix up my POS sprite, and cannibalize the weap into your mod,
after all, this is a full 40K conversion,
i dont mind if i make tau guns, that they be included if there true to the chapter approved texts...
i'll work on that possibly tommorow,
with the Tau Codex right in front of me for game stats, and fluff.

i do know off hand that the pulse riffle, is
range 32, and assault 2,
and that the fluff says that its a high-velocity, gun, that only shoots a single particle, rather than bullets,
it uses individual atoms,

any objections to a weight 0.00000001, sharpnes :? (enough to do about 20-40 damage in a headshot for robots, as there closest to space marines for armor, so that when this is finished and balanced to cannon, will do about 10-20 to space marines)

and velocity of... i dunno, a few thousand, so that its just a blink of a line.

lastly, adjust the sharp length to be 1.5 screens-worth (640 * 1.5 pixels,not doing the actual math right now.)

if you see anything wrong with a 0.0000001 for it being a single particle,
or the basic infantry doing 20-40 damage to a robot,
or getting about auto-fire, with 1 round every, 1 - 0.8 seconds,

please tell me, by tomorow, when i get to work.

my list of what i'll submit for this is

Tau Pulse rifle,
pulse carbine
fusion blaster,
burst cannon
Rail Rifle (pathfinders)
kroot rifle (its a musket riffle, that gets used in melee, it doesnt shoot sand)

guns that i forgot the name of at this moment but will have when i grab my codex
that flamer,
that thing the vespids use

also should i make vehichle size weapons?
, ion cannon, rail cannon, missile pods, smart missiles, seeker missiles, etc.

should i include chapter approved material not found in the codex?
(shas o'Rymar's plasma shotgun thingey, or his shield)

i might make an attempt at the sprites, but i cant shade, so it will have the right shape, but the wrong shadeing and color.
dont complain about how crapy they look, i know they will, feel free to post sprites that DONT suck of them, so that i could use them and post here.

when finished, if anyone has an eldar codex that they can send me the fluff/stats for,
i may also make the eldar...
OH

i forgot a race. what about the necrons?
i have there codex, but there kinda bland and genaric.
and it would require a green glow effect,
we cant add glowing anything other than yellow and blue, unless someone has photoshop,
thankfully i only need blue for the tau (while yes, firewarrior used blue, so did DoW: DC)

did i forget anything?

Wow, you write alot. yeah we're starting with imperium, Orks and Chaos for now. We'll expand later. Btw, bolters DO shoot explosive rounds. Btw, Vash, the sizing is wrong. Marines are a lot taller than it shows on the tabletop. Dunno why tho.

Miles, shut the hell up. I've been playing 40k for WAY longer than you, I have first edition miniatures, I have half of the black library. Talk a lot slower, and with less words and people will be able to read what you are saying. Oblivion and I are the creators of this mod, and you don't run things around here, so feel free to give advice, but don't criticise us for making headway.


Edit: There is a Spacemarine FPS coming out in 2009. I have contacts who work for THQ, and it's gonna be similar to gears of war, cover systems, Really graphic close combat, and GIBBING, every section of the body gibs. So, you shoot their shoulder with a boltgun, the shoulder gets blown off. you hack into a CSM with a chainsword, it leaves a huge gash across the chest. It's AWESOME.

2nd: i never said i knew more than you, just that guy saying that bolters dont have explosive ammo.

--are you going to try to get everything working, then make it look nice, or perfect one piece before you move on? i wasn't sure.

Just shut up, we’re making a CC mod not a new FPS, details don't matter that much.

And if you want eldar and that ♥♥♥♥, do it yourself, this is already going to take a long time.

I've played as Grey Knights for five years, I've read almost all of black library’s 40k books, I've played all the 40k PC games, and I think I know what I'm talking about.

Those are bolt pistols you're talking about. Pistols. The standard rifle type bolter is pretty much only used by the Astartes, but that's probably more to do with background fluff than anything. So you probably don't see standard guard use a bolter due to rarity, more than anything else.

But as to size, you really can't use the game models for comparison, they are not to 'scale' in terms of the game fiction. In game fiction, one space marine would be enough to take out platoons of standard guardsmen. They are godlike in the fiction; tabletop game promotes play balance.

Anyways, I can't believe you guys are still on the conversion :D I would have thought it would be done by now hehe. Well once I finish updating the bolters and lasguns, you guys are welcome to use them (if you aren't already using them :P).

I'm sort of back, b18 performs poorly on my machine now heh. First task update my old mods that are worth updating ;)

I agree with Mr Venn here.


Also, A space marine is about 3 meters tall, thats about 8.5 feet.
I, along with Oblivion have read most of the 40k books I can get my hands on and played SM/CMS for about 4 years and 'DO' know what I'm talking about.

Also, I'm getting off topic. This is about the mod. Not fluff. Now that this is over with, what needs to be done?

Well, due to a little hitch with my plans, i have a free night.
i'll be working on the pulse rifle and maybe the carbine TONIGHT.
however, i suck at spriting, if anyone is up to making a good sprite for it, feel free, its kinda easy, there very plain, its just that i cant shade. otherwise they will be semi-unshaded.
