Just like to point out; Halo 3 is not the most pre-ordered game in history - in fact it's still being beaten by the older sibling Halo 2, which according to Wikipedia (search pre-order) had a total of 1.5 million as opposed to the 1 garnered by this year's release. Not bad, but still not incredible.

On a related note, you may have confused pre-orders with the oft-quoted, huge grosse of Halo 2. That would have set records if it were a movie (and still set 'em in the gaming industry).

IMHO, console titles < PC titles, Halo 3 < Crysis - though only because the tech demo made me drool. Quite literaly.

Why halo is so different that people just don't get.

It's simple, Halo is a generic FPS. Yes.. That's it. Every other FPS has some kind of new "revolutionary" feature that changes the gameplay just a little too much that it isn't a generic FPS anymore.

The simple fact is, some things are better left simple. Bungie caught on to that.

The 25th must be spent celebrating Crysis, or nanosuited thugs will come and get you in your sleep. Crysis > Halo. Smashing ♥♥♥♥ up is fun.

Edit: But to make this post talk about Halo a little bit and not get deleted, I have to say the Halo 3 trailer rocked. Master Chief is slightly more winworthy than the Crysis nanosuit dude.

well i herd its gonna be the biggest cashing in on any media product, around $200 million beating the record which was spider man 3 which got something like $155 mill on the first weekend.

Wanna know how I know Crysis isn't as good as H3? Cuz I've never heard of it. Halo will totally pwn the sales of Crysis. Just watch.

A game can still have good graphics while being simple. Halo 1 and 2's graphics were very meh for their time. I wonder if halo 3's will look like crap while actually playing it(None of this lol screenshots see it must luk gud).

And prod, you must live under a rock if you've never heard about crysis. Also, halo will never get into the ranks with the big boys. See:

In fact, it's barely even in the top twenty. And that's only because it was bundled.

You can't compare the two, graphically. They aren't even on the same platform.

PCs are way more flexible (and powerful) graphically because of their ability to set display options and use a variety of hardware.

Console games are stuck using the same system architecture, which severely limits the capabilities of an engine (or an engine's programmer).

This is also not CRYSIS v H3 debate thread. Don't make one, either.
