Yep, I agree totally.

It must be an .rte folder compressed in ZIP format
Original spriting (resprites, or recycling of old sprites won't be accepted)
At least one still frame picture.
Consensus of three of the five panelists that the mod is creative, original, and unique.

I think it would be interesting if somebody coded up an app to make .cca files that you could simply open, and a program would extract them to the installation folder... you could use 7z as the compression format since it's free, open, and has a great compression ratio. Maybe they could even just be renamed .7z files. :???:

This could probably be further expanded into a full-blown mod manager, which might help a lot of the noobs.

1. Forcing entries into .zip format is stupid. If someone is too cretinous to know how to use winRAR, that's their problem, not the mod makers.
2. If there's a concievable problem with reviewer bias, then make me a judge. I rate based on quality, not quantity or fame. Alternately, Alenth, LordTim, and almost certainly others would be good choices.
3. I like the idea, and having a "secondary" mod forum could be good, but, in this "certified mod archive", how would one post updates? Would there be any kind of posting restrictions in the forum to keep spam/n00b posts out?

4. Actually, thinking about it, I just had an idea. If you make a mod worthy of "Certified" status, you gain an additional rank, which enables you to post in the Certified Mods forum, which is otherwise read only. That way, experienced modders could give other experienced modders constructive criticism. This same principle should apply to a "Best of the Best" forum, if there indeed will be one.

The only problem I have is this.

With the uncertified mods form, it says "DL at own risk" or something like that. It makes it sound like those mods are the Ghettos, and the Certified mods are a Metropolis [for lack of a better analogy]. It should be more like: Un-reviewed mods section, and reviewed mods section. All mods should be put in the Reviewed section, but with a 1-10, A-F, or Star rating. And if a judge doesn't like he, he shouldn't delete it. Anyone and everyone deserves their mod, no matter the quality. If I made a first mod, that was so-so, I would still want it seen, not deleted. All mods really should have the same treatment, regardless on quality.

Didn't we used to have a "Top Mods section?" I can remember the pinned topics, but those failed pretty quickly. I can see what people are saying when they mention that the uncertified mods will be heavily eclipsed by the others...

Perhaps the "Certified Quality Mods" section should be a subforum of the "Mods" forum?

Top Mods failed because of no centralized method of selecting mods.

A good way for people to review/rate a mod or scene would be using a points system, mods and scenes that receive half total number or the or lower will be removed from the "Good Mods/Scenes Section" and placed in the "Other Mods/Scenes Section". I am not trying to insulted anyone.

1) Rating of originality - On a scale of 1-10
2) Rating of quality - On a scale of 1-10
3) Rating of effort (how much effort the creator took in the mod/scene) On a scale of 1-10
4) Rating of last ability (how long do you think you would use the mod/scene) On a scale of 1-10
5) Rating of fun (if the mod/scene is fun or boring to use) On a scale of 1-10
Total of 50 Points (could be doubled so it adds up to 100)

Edit: Also being balanced, coded and sprited well would also be great to add to a rating.
