Why can't we just do something easy and rate the mods.

You click a button in the bottom left corner and it shows you rows 3 of five stars.

Maybe you could have one rating for originality, another for quality, and one for how fun it is.

Then the common user could give their honest opinion on the mods.

There would be filters that showed only certain mods, depending on the rating.

Obviously there would have to be a restriction, so users couldn't vote in their own thread.

Considering the idea would be nice. :)

I really like the having a sub-forum for good mods idea, that way we dont shut out good ideas and yet people will always know where to look for the best downloads. Hope it takes off.

We will definitely implement it with two subforums: Approved and Not Approved (or whatever we choose to name them).

How I envision it working is that a user posts his mod to a review request forum. That forum would require members of the Mod Review Panel to approve posts before they are visible to the rest of the forum. While the post is invisible, they would review the mod, then once consensus was achieved on its quality, it would be approved and then moved to a proper forum, either approved or unapproved.

How many board review members are you going to need? Sounds like a great idea though.

I like your ideas THOR. A good way to get rid of the bias that I mentioned is that whenever someone post a mod for review it would be anynomous (sp?).

Other than that it would work great.

Well, it sounds like you are 100% sure with it. Most of the feedback has been 'yay', so why don't you go forward with it?

I really want to see how this affects the quality of mods, so I can't wait for it.

Hmm, I wonder if thats possible...

Well if it seems like we have problems with bias, we just need to add more reviewers to offset their influence.

Will this be the same with scenes?

Maybe, but given the inherent difficulty of building scenes over mods, I'm going to assume that its self-moderating due to difficulty.

We'll see.

How/when will the admins and moderators select the mod reviewers?

EDIT: Nevermind.

EDIT2: How strict are the standards? If it doesn't take much work to get a certified mod through, the certified forum will be crowded and the general purpose of this whole thing would be useless.

If the effect you were looking for, ProjektTHOR, was to have very few in the Certified section whilst having a very crowded uncertified forum; then the 'standards' would have to be very strict. I supposed you'd have to name it to 'Regular Mods' and 'Outstanding Mods'.

But I suppose it's up to the reviewers, ultimately.

Seems like you're insuinating that the uncertified mods are somehow bad, with the "Download at your own risk" thing, and the bit in the Certified Mods description saying that they are the only ones up to standards.

The standards that mods have to live up to will be dictated by the review board.

Pretty sure thats the point of the term "Certified" and "Standard." Why would we call something "up to standards" if it wasn't?

:x Way to completely miss my point. The Certified section should be for the "best of the best", not "the only good mods."

I agree completely. The Certified section is a section that all modders should work hard and strive for. Whilst there just be a regular mods section.

Just a simple rename.

You're obviously missing my intentions here. The idea is to elevate the higher quality mods from the masses.

A "best of the best" would be items hand selected from the already narrowed down Certified Mods.

My suggestions:

Mods have to have the following:

.rte format.
Original spriting (not stolen).
Credit given if needed.
Download available in either .zip or .rar.
At least one or more pictures/gifs showing the mod.
Checked by one of the designated checkers to make sure it's not going to make stuff blow up. Unless that's intentional.
