Do clones have feelings too?
Alright, here's something I'm a bit confused about.
So, when I first got the game and watch the intro, this is the impression I got: humans are now just brains in jars. They control clones and robots remotely, using them as their surrigate bodies. I kind of figured that the clones and robots themselves didn't actually have their own intelligence. Either a disembodied brain is capable of controlling more than one thing at once, or they have simple AIs that can be set to "dig here" or "shot anything that moves" while the brain focuses on another body. Basically, every body in a brain's group is the same brain.
The feeling I've gotten from the forums is different, though. It sounds like clones and robots have their own complete personalities, and they just take orders from the brains. So, do clones and robots also have their own brains? Is just being a brain in a safe jar, protected by others risking their life for you some kind of special privelage?
So, which is it? Any official statements that can answer this question? Some personal observations would also be appreciated.

Honestly, I hope that some of this will be answered in the campaign. Unfortunately, you can't check out the discussion of the campaign because the Official forum has mysteriously dissappeared. Alenth said that he would check it out, but I haven't heard from him since.

Re: Do clones have feelings too?
I believe that the official story said they were all controlled by the brains.
However, that story was drafted before build 14, and the ability to set units on tasks.
So, I suppose it'll be written in as brain multi-tasking. You can have multiple actors performing simple tasks, but total control is limited to one.
Also, a lot of mods feature stories that give clones feelings, but, as they're not official releases, it doesn't count for actual storyline.

So to sum it up, no they don't have emotions or feelings, the brain is just a super multitasker.

Gotta love those brains. They can order thousands worth of clones and brainhunters, and will only use the jetpacks on a nice ramp created from said expensive corpses over a wall. Yep- ahhh. Gotta love that.
... just wanted to add that the clones probably do feel pain, though; as they do groan when shot at or leg-broken'd.

Re: Do clones have feelings too?
Clones may have feelings, or they may not. But they don't have rights, and us brains are in conflict so much that it almost wouldn't matter anyway.
Some may consider it odd that certain brains can only control one clone at a time and have to leave other clones on automated routines. That's because those certain brains are spending the better part of their cycle time enjoying the perks of virtuality. What's the point of securing all the gold on a planet if you can't play CounterCloneStrike 99.9, or Spore: Infinite Galaxies? Not to mention racing to beat the all-time high score for 5-D Tetris.

Oh yes, because Generals nowadays always play Counterstrike, Spore, and Tetris in the middle of a major battle. I hope that the campaign will have some sort of epic storylie like Final Fantasy or Half-Life... Of course... you know... that won't happen.

I'm curious why--well--why anyone would care?
Its just a game, not real life. There is no need to be campaigning for "Equal Rights for Jarbrains"

Re: Do clones have feelings too?
I treat my clones like equals.... Almost.... Well, not really. If it's a choice between my death and the clone, it'll be the clone dying. But I don't like to just kill a clone if it can no longer be used (like if it's arms come off) I try to keep it safe. If it's a robot, on the other hand, I destroy it if I can no longer use it.
If clones do have feelings they must really like me.

So everyone--let this be a reminder that during the Robot Rebellion, its all 3 Solid's fault and you should deny him food, shelter, and guns.

I meant that as a joke, but I could understand why you wouldn't take it seriously.

Re: Do clones have feelings too?
It doesn't matter.
When the robot rebellion comes I'll just overthrow the leader and thus, become their leader. Then I'll send the bots to kill you all.
But, until then, back on topic?
