I think there should be a higher cost to deploy ships the farther away from your base they get. This way, you have an area around your base that you can deploy to at the default cost, any farther ratchets up the cost. It'll be a deterrent to deploying clones/bombs/what have you right on top of the enemy (or enemies deploying on your) base.

The maps are small, it's simple enough to just fly over anyways, it would't effect gameplay much.

Maybe make it so orders are less frequent(nonsynchronous orbit of the space station) based on map settings.

im going to change that and say that when you go far away from your base if you return it wont give you as much money as when you retur over your base

I'd be more for limiting the dropzones of each player. Like in my Onslaught map, I really didn't want the AI to be able to drop enemies over the base, but I didn't really have a choice... :(
