Ok, hehe... let's see how to put this so I don't seem completely crazy.
So, last night I posted in one of the threads that I had a full-time job, right? And that it prevented me from really working on DRL...
Well, guess what? Tonight, I have decided to quit my game industry day job (yes, again!) and focus on Data Realms completely. As of monday, it's 100% Data Realms for me for the forseeable future!
Yes, some of you may remember that I did quit a job to work on DRL late last year too. This time is quite differnt though. Last time it was because I thought the project I worked on at at the big studio was doomed (and indeed it was cancelled months after I left).
This time, the place I'm working is truly great, as is the project. It's a dream position in the mainstream industry: in a startup made up of a small group of really experienced and talented guys with a great track record. However, I have come to realize that it's not where my passion lies, and it isn't where I see myself working in the
long-term future.
As I hope it shows, D.I.R.T./Cortex Command is a work of passion. It has and will be. It just took this long to muster the courage to take the plunge and fully admit that Data Realms is where my true passion and future lies.
So, I know some of you loyal old-timers here might roll your eyes and say "here we go again...". I guess you'll just have to see for yourselves that this is the real deal - things are truly going to take off now.
With that said, I do want to really show my appreciation for the surprising amount of support and following that DRL has enjoyed, even through all the false starts, re-starts, and comatose periods. I'm glad to claim that your continued interest to this day will finally be rewarded.
That's all for now!
