Why does it get sooooo laggy when you dig past the last layer of rock? is there a way to fix this?

yeah, you can change it to be very hard to get through, but eventually a stray rocket or smething will go through it

I'm sure if you put a 1 pixel thick layer below the last set of rock, you can set it's strenth to -1 in order to make it indestructable. Setting it to 0 would not work because then anything would instantlly crush it.

If you do accidently dig to low, simply leave the area, as long as no new pixels enter the hole, it will stop lagging.

Actually, a 1 pixel border wouldn't detect colisions, and it wouldn't help. Make it 2 or more pixels thick.
