B23, XP32sp3, clean install, won't start
Hi,
I have some serious issues with B22 and B23. I tried to run them on my old Fujitsu-Siemens S7020 laptop (XPsp3, Intel GMA950 chipset /w latest drivers) and my new Lenovo R400 (XPsp3, Intel MHD4500 chipset /w latest drivers). Clean installs.
When I click on the CC icon I will see the hourglass for half a sec or so and then nothing.
Is this a known problem or can anyone suggerst how to get more info on what might have happened?

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and click the processes tab on the window that comes up. Click the Image Name column once and look for a process named Cortex Command.exe. Tell us if it's there after trying to start the game.

As far as I know, this is not a known problem. Try reinstalling or redownloading. Otherwise, have you got the latest .Net framework from microsoft?

Like I said. I got a new laptop so even with a fresh install of windows with all updates and including the .NET framework 3.5sp1, It didn't run (to my amazement). I have redownloaded it numerous times now.

Installed both, restarted. Didn't help. Thank you anyway!

Hi there people, I happen to suffer from the same problem.
I'm running on a VGN-FW285D vaio laptop windows home premium 64-bits service packed...
The game does a hourglass for half a sec and nothing happens.
edit:
I've read abit around. Might have found some clues?
Some laptops (like mine) can only use some very specific screen resolutions (I use a cinematic 16:9 screen). CC standard resolution is 640x480 fullscreen, that's simply impossible on our machines.
I see there are ways to start it up as a windowed game, but doesn't seem to help either... so i'm kinda stumped.

I've been having exactly the same problem: I try to start the game, it flashes the "working" cursor animation for a split-second, and does absolutely nothing (Task Manager shows no processes open, either). Sometimes (rarely) it'll start, but I don't know why. I've reinstalled the game several times, and nothing seems to do anything.
Specs:
Vista Ultimate x64 Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 8 GB RAM AMD Radeon HD 4870 Chipset: Intel P45

(which nullifies my resolution theory) so we're both stuck unable to play it... which is really disheartening. I managed to make it run on my parents computer (my old computer) when I went to take care of the cat, but it's an half-dead machine and it lagged to hell. It was using XP.

And you've tried running it as admin? Running it in compatibility mode for XP? I have no idea if that helps any, but this sounds like one of those obscure errors that only happens to three people ever.

yeah, we're admin, and tried it in compatibility mode.
I'll keep on checking what i can do but really, this is just crushingly sad. I mean, I did buy the game, in support mode even, because of how i liked it back when i could play it a year ago, but I can't play it =(

Someone give them a windows settings.ini file with fullscreen off and a higher normal resolution, from my experience on an older laptop that might work.

I initially had no updates on WinXP, then tried updating to see if that helped. Neither build 22 or 23 will work. I've tried all suggested solutions with no luck. I'll keep trying. Thing is, it worked on my old machine, but that didn't run it very well, so I was hping to try it out on this one.
