Confession!
Yes, I'm Grif.
Get over it. I didn't make the thread to spite anyone; I honestly meant what I said. While I was an alt, and this whole account is technically breaking the rules, I sincerely want to do something with the community.
My thread was a classic example of what is WRONG with Datarealms.
I am going to, not martyr myself, but alienate myself, here. I am no longer a troll, but I spent too much time as one to be a "forumer". I do not have a place in the DRLFF caste system.
Thus, I actually DON'T have any allegiances.
Before you people automatically assume that my purpose in being here is attracting attention and being a drama queen, here me out.
I WANT these forums to change. So do the mods, so do the admins, so does the community. The mods, however, seem to be the only ones actively participating in the reconstruction.
Let's go with a convenient Civil War metaphor; I am General Lee, and Electroclan is Grant. He arranged my "surrender" with a weeklong ban, which we both AGREED to. I was waiting for someone to ban me, he's the first mod who's gotten around to it.
Now, the DRLFF civil war is over, and Reconstruction must begin. The southern citizens and military (IRCers) have to be brought peacefully back into the Union that is the rest of the forum, and the northerners (forumites) must be willing to accept them.
Pontification and extended, weak metaphors aside, this forum NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
It has been drastically broken for months now. I was one of the principal abusers. I fixed my conduct. I invite everyone to do the same.
This includes you, Eric. You're no more above the law then anyone else. Prove your own maturity by challenging what I expect you to do.
Please. This applies to Tucker as well, except I actually think he can change his behaviour. Both of you, honestly, just change your behaviour. I managed to. It's not as hard as you think.

Exactly HOW do you want us to change?
You didn't specify clearly enough.

Re: Confession!
And I'm pretty much smarter than everyone here. I tried that whole "re-integration with the community via a new alternate account." Got boring fast, eh?

Re: Confession!
Allright, so CUFA failed miserably, I'm hoping to see something work. I don't care if Grif starts it, or Daman, or the Antichrist, I just want this forum to be a good forum.
So let's see how this turns out, I hope that it works, because so far, every "revolution" has failed. Whether it was against mods, or to clean up the forum.
It's good that this one isn't against the mods.
Honestly though, this is the WORST forum I have ever been to. And it's a damn shame considering that this is the BEST game I have ever played.

Re: Confession!
There is a reason why change cannot be enacted, and thats because of the board management. No matter what any user or group decides to do, it will be countermanded if it is not approved by the staff.
This is not a democracy, kids. It isn't even close. Nothing an individual or group decides to do has any impact upon it if the ruling class chooses not to deal with it.

Or you could stop acting dumb? You were fine, you played a valuable role. Noone cared, until you probably took it too far. Also, I'm not just an IRCer, I post on the forum quitea bit. So ♥♥♥♥ off.

Re: Confession!
This is not a democracy like THOR just said. The Monarchs (admins) appoint the Lords (mods) who do what they like, and no one else's opinion matters. If we want people to stop being idiots, then ignore the ones who make themselves look like ones, and eventually they stop. I agree that THOR and Grif are the smarter ones here at the forum, but the things they do aren't always the smartest. It's seriously incredibly easy to ignore the things they say about stuff, like mods.

Re: Confession!
THOR and Ophanim, you're not helping the state of the forum.
Really. It isn't that hard to help out or to give your own opinion without throwing insults or mocking their intelligence. People don't know as much you guys do about most subjects on DRLFF, but that doesn't mean you can be a total ass about it and snootily correct them about whatever mistakes they have made. You guys are on the precipice of getting banned due to flaming/trolling.
Manners, they count. They really do. I want to change the community to a nicer one
Also Oph: IRC Regulars are just people who regulary visit IRC, does not ever mention their forum activity. Grif was talking about the rather elitist attitude IRC regulars have over those who do not visit the IRC and participate on forums only.
Yes, DRLFF is getting some younger and newer characters to it's boards, but it doesn't mean you can torment them without consequence. Yes, they do crap out topics like there is no tomorrow, but that will be rectified.

Everyone should stoop to my level of geniality and niceness. Then the forum will be a nicer place.

(insert furry joke here) But yeah, let's all be a bit nicer, shall we? And let's all grow a bit of a thicker skin here. Keeping the flames down isn't just about being nice, it's about how to respond when someone isn't nice to you.

Re: Confession!
Enough of this attitude Trouser, the forums are changing and so should you.
I am working to remove common flaming off of this forums. Walking into IRC and annoying the hell out of people I just managed to calm down isn't helping at all.
You could have left my original post so people know what you were replying too...
Also, I'll never change.

Re: Confession!
Electroclan; I see where you're going with that. But, you cannot remove flame entirely. That's asking for a flood of idiots. When I'm giving help to people who genuinely don't know what they're doing wrong, I'm nice and you should know it. It's when people are idiots I flame.

Re: Confession!
No flaming. At all.
These 'idiots' you so happily crusade against are just uninformed newbies. Be nice and informative to them. I have seen many, many communities that have no flaming, and everyone is respectful. Flaming does not 'shape up and toughen up' members, it drives them off. People don't want to take ♥♥♥♥, they want people they can actually be friends with.
