Mature Discussion Thread "Religion, What's Yours?"
Kay, guys, this is the mature discussion thread, and the rules are as follows: 1. We cana nd will kill all ignorant posts. you are not allowed to ♥♥♥♥♥ about it. If we feel it's only slightly too flamey, we'll edit it with a note to change a few things. 2. Keep the LOL UR POINT SUX away from here. 3. Make only intelligent, thought out replies. Fast conversations are for IRC. 4. The topic will change once a week, or, if the discussion is still going and everyone wants to continue, will be postponed a week. 5.Kelas and I will be moderating heavily, but other mods will be doing that too. So watch it.
Current topic is "Religion: What's Yours?"
I, myself, am a Satanist. Please guys. don't follow common misconceptions about it. See Kelas for any questions, as I'm off for the night. Kelas's views are same as mine pertaining to Satanism.

I'm a fatalist cynicalist atheist bastard.
Namely, I don't care if I die, I consider myself superior to everyone, and as a part of that consider God outright ridiculous, and, I'm an ♥♥♥hole.

Whitty, learn to capitalise. Anwyay, two replies in a few minutes is exactly what this topic is not about. Think out your replies more, or I'll lock it and label it a failed experiment.

Oh, yes, I'm open to other ideas; I've read the Bible.
And the K'oran.
And the Torah.
Atheist does not and should not mean ignorant.
EDIT: Qur'an.

Athiest here. Although, I really think of religious differences as trivial, at most. I just don't care all that much, though I am up for debate. More of a passive athiest, so to speak.
I became an Athiest at around 13 years old. Why? I felt that the heavy presence of a God above me was like a ball and chain tied to my feet, directing me where to go and what to do with my life. I'm more of an explorer, always taking the rough dirt path, rather than follow the road.. symbolically speaking.

That is the par of posts in this thread. Take it this way; If your post is less than four complete sentences long, don't post.

More of a passive athiest, so to speak. Indeed. I consider religions a means of teaching people basic values of citizenship and conduct above all else; They're also a means of idol worship that I don't find healthy, but, I'm a cynical and egotistical bastard, as previously stated. I consider myself master of my own destiny/life, and do not like the idea of someone else controlling it. But, again, I have deeply ingrained personality defects and some major societal problems, far besides the more obvious.

Re: Mature Discussion Thread "Religion, What's Yours?"
I, as my sig shows, am a christian.
I'm surprised at the amount of atheists here. To Electroclan and Grif: God gave us free will, even though he does sorta "enlighten" what he wants us to do. I do understand what you're saying though, I've felt the same way to.
I'm not as big of a christian as I was, I went through this brief period where I was really close with God, it was awesome.
Anywho, I'm really interested to hear more about other religions and their beliefs, I barely know anything about Muslim and Morman, and I know a little more about Jewish. Sooo... yeah, anyone Muslim, Morman, or Jewish?

I think the funniest part is that the differences between Islam, Christianity (all denominations), and Judaism is of interpretation. The factual statements are all the same.
Think about that one, for a little while.

Re: Mature Discussion Thread "Religion, What's Yours?"
Agnostic reporting. In short, I believe you can't prove or disprove gods, the afterlife, etc. simply because to find out, you'd have to die, and you can't come back from the dead to tell what happened when you died. Zombies don't count due to lack of brain functions, understandable speech, etc.
That's not to saying I'm atheist. I can't truly claim any established religion as my own, but I feel that there is SOME higher power, be it a "god" or something else. I believe that something had to create this universe we live in and can't bring myself to accept that our world "just exists."
I view most religions as, well, ways to make people feel better about themselves. To give those that can't find one a purpose. But that's just me.
Since nobody can PROVE that God or whatever exists, and I can't prove God or whatever doesn't, I tend to just sit back and listen in the case of a religious debate, learn what makes the religions tick. People take religion too seriously, IMO.

Sooo... yeah, anyone Muslim, Morman, or Jewish? Mormon = Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. A Christian sect. Kokits, I'm not sure which statement of ours you're agreeing with, clarify please? @Iwillcontrolyou: I do sometimes believe that way; my feelings adjust from absolute lack of higher power to belief that there's something up there. @Surplus2475: (btw who are you?) I had noticed that; I find it very interesting. It's also noteworthy that many religions refer to the same events and people. Personally, I drift toward the Muslim belief on prophets, namely that "Jesus and Abraham were cool dudes, but Muhammed was the real son of god/true prophet". It's just much more tolerant, which appeals to me.

Re: Mature Discussion Thread "Religion, What's Yours?"
I'm too lazy to dig out my "proof" of the supernatural, but it pretty much centers around the creation of the universe and the laws of entropy and conservation of energy/matter.
I'm a Christian; I don't much care which denomination. I've been to Baptist and Episcopal and Covanent, and I don't really care which one, so long as it isn't all about loud music and shouting and waving hands. I much prefer the services you can actually think in. So long as they take the Bible as the word of God and don't add or take out or conveniently forget anything, they're fine by my book.
I play in a few church orchestras. Always fun.
...
I really can't prove or disprove God to anyone. It's like a square trying to think of a cube. Or tetrahedron. I just have my personal experience to go by, and that's plenty enough proof for me. I can't share it save for encouraging others to learn about Christianity, so I don't try. I mostly just spend my days trying to be a good example and feeling sorry for the world as we know it, considering the domination of secular thinking. But hey, if you need proof before you even consider the idea of something actually existing, then it's your life. Have fun with it. Don't run with scissors. And I'd like to more about satanists; I've never really gotten to talk with any, and I'd like to know what it's about.
