I hate to be a nit-picker, but the decade ended last year on December 31st, 2009. Nevertheless, lots of shitty things have happened, yes.

Read his entire post, all the counting starts on the second year, so 2001 and not 2000. So the decade ends on the 31st of this year, not the past.

Check your facts too, the BBC ran an article on the end of the decade...last year.

Wikipedia seems to support the theory that it ended in 2009 also.
