Contact your senator/government representative about legaliz
My title didn't fit... "Contact your senator/government representative about legalizing marijuana! " Tired of the bull♥♥♥♥? You hopefully know all the bull♥♥♥♥ that keeps marijuana illegal such as lobbyists and private industries benefiting from marijuana prohibition. You know that marijuana is good for your health, benefits diseases, can be used in many ways including food, clothes, paper, and fuel. You know that the world economy would improve from the taxation and regulation of marijuana, and that young children who shouldn't be having marijuana would not be able to get it as easily. And more. Well, write to your senator about it! Change happens when the people speak their voice. If we can convince 51 of our senators that marijuana is a good thing, then marijuana can be legalized in the US. We just need to convince 51 people. http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfmThat site provides you with links to contact your senate representatives (USA only) Here is the email I sent my reps: Quote: Mr. Senator, I am writing to express my concern about the marijuana prohibition. I have never smoked marijuana, but after learning the facts I am baffled by the fact that there is a prohibition on marijuana. The fact that it has more medical benefits than any other plant and no side effects(other than those related directly to the smoke produced by burning it, as with any smoke) and that it is illegal is troubling enough. Allow me to list some more benefits to marijuana. It can be used to make more durable clothing. The natural fiber in hemp is the most durable natural fiber. We could use it to make far more durable clothing. It can be used to make high quality paper, famous for it's ability to last for hundreds of years without even yellowing. This also helps preserve the environment as we cut down less trees needed for paper. In addition, marijuana was originally made illegal because they said it made people violent(a lie made up by wood paper companies). It does not make people violent, anyone can see that. Then during the mid 1900's it was said that marijuana was a communist plot to make us all pacifists. It was made illegal because of a lie, and remained illegal for the exact opposite reason. To this day, lobbyists for private jails, pharmaceutical companies and wood paper companies continue to push for marijuana prohibition. They benefit from the continued prohibition. Marijuana would also be able to help America with it's financial issues. Billions of dollars a year go untaxed and unregulated through illegal marijuana sales. Billions of dollars are spent trying to stop the sales. If legalized, then the government could tax and regulate marijuana so that it would improve our economy and limit the access to children. We are making the same mistake as we did with the alcohol prohibition, yet this is far worse. I encourage you to watch the documentary I will post a link to in the bottom of this message. It will show you that all of what I said is true, and more. If you don't trust the video, look up the facts yourself. The marijuana prohibition is a circle of stupidity that has supported itself for over a century, and in this age of growing intelligence and change, we must fight this ignorance that has cost America so much. On a personal note, I realize that speaking against marijuana prohibition can mean you could lose your job. People are ignorant, and they may dislike you for fighting marijuana prohibition. That's why we must spread the knowledge, the truth about marijuana. I don't expect you to take any immediate political action, but I do expect you to spread the facts about marijuana to your fellow congressmen. If all of congress stands together against marijuana prohibition, then no one is a political outcast. Spread the knowledge, so that some day soon we may legalize marijuana and improve our nation in so many ways. Thanks you for your time, here is a documentary on marijuana that you and many other US citizens will find very enlightening. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9077214414651731007&ei=4lZLSoKHHsPJ-AaM5LiXDw&q=the+union+the+business+behind+getting+high&emb=1If you haven't seen the documentary I posted a link to, WATCH IT. NOW. Here it is again: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9077214414651731007&ei=4lZLSoKHHsPJ-AaM5LiXDw&q=the+union+the+business+behind+getting+high&emb=1

Re: Contact your senator/government representative about legaliz
Major fail in video: "Half of the medicines use marijuana" Most medicines around that time were crap. Ignoring that, did you know that cannabis has been cultivated to not have THC. Simple solution: Legalized THC-free strains. Problem solved. Anyway, I belive the thing you want to legalize is hemp, not marijuana. Infact the video blurs the difference between the two. TL;DR If you want hemp to be legalized, stop associating it with marijuana. EDIT: Okay, about that study. LONG TERM DAMAGE. LIKE CANCER. Oh, I will add more to this post as I watch the propaganda video. Oh, 2007 study of chemical content of the smoke: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7150274.stmOoh. 10K years of no attributed deaths. Wow, it isn't like science existed only for the last 200. Also, cite your sources. Direct deaths means overdose. INDERECT DEATHS LIKE CANCER KILL. Ooh, one study. One. Like 1.Nice. Gateway drug. The results are conflicting. But you are ignoring the point that use of the drug reduces belif in drugs being bad. Oh, and analogy fail. Statistic fail. Cite your sources. Example fail. And they only smoked once, not constantly. Lazyness - Take a rat and have two buttons, but the button can only be presse once a day. One button stimulates electrodes in it's pleasure center, the other opens the door to a bigger enviroment. Guess what they pick? Brave New World. Don't say that they work, because they only work to get more hedonistic pleasure. Appeal to tradition fallacy. I do not need to say more with this. Saying that anything can be abused: Yes, but some things can be abused more than others. And some abuses are more pleasurable than others. I seriously don't feel like watching the rest of the vid.

Re: Contact your senator/government representative about legaliz
All this medicinal marijuana stuff is crap, "curing lung cancer!", "curing depression!" Give me 20 cases of people winning over depression/cancer by smoking marijuana, that 1: don't smoke it again. 2: where the user is taking no other medications. Also, legalizing marijuana would lead to the same thing as the tobacco business. 1: Harmful Second-Hand smoke. 2: Abuse. 3: Deaths. 4: Addicts paying money to smoke 2 packs a day. Foogooman wrote: I've never smoked marijuana, gotten drunk, or smoked a cigarette. I barely even drink coffee. Then, why do you care so much? Sure, marijuana can be used as a material, but that material can also be abused. Don't say anything can be abused, I don't know anyone that smokes cardboard.

Noone says it cures anything. It's like pain meds but with less terrible effects like uh addiction for instance.

Re: Contact your senator/government representative about legaliz
New studies show that long time smokers have withdrawal. I don't see people addicted to aspirin, btw.
But CrazyMLC, remeber, the OP appears to be supporting the plant, not the drug.
And uhh, drugies. Stop leaching off a perfectly valid product(cannabis) so that you can get high. You don't need THC in hemp for it to be used in fibers.

Re: Contact your senator/government representative about legaliz
The teens these days for the most part think that marijuana is rebellious like the bs clothes they wear, and I can go on for hours over how American teenage culture sucks, but that's not the point.
Oh, and you cite your sources . I refuse to watch the OP's propaganda video until it cites sources.

Re: Contact your senator/government representative about legaliz
Something being the lesser of two evils does not mean it's good. Sure, CrazlyMLC's statements was bs, but weed is still addictive.
OP's title should just be "Legalizing Marijuana".

Marijuana isn't physically addictive, it's psychologically addicting. Anything that you enjoy can be psychologically addicting.

http://steve-yegge.blogspot.com/2009/04 ... juana.htmlA long read but once you get about halfway it becomes pretty relevant. In summary there are a lot of issues to do with legalising marijuana beyond the health concerns, I found it to be an interesting read.
