They're both good in their own rights:

HL2 has a good storyline, and excellent character animations. It has no multiplayer (no, I'm not counting TF2 or CS:S, that is not HL2 MP).

H3 is an excellent Run 'n Gun, and it has kickass multiplayer. It's story was predicted miles away.

As I said, they're both great games, ya'll just need an unbiased view to realize that.
