Doesn't really matter. El Al or Midway, I suppose. Let's see if one of us can host, first. It'll be called DRFF, password cortex

Are we using Hamachi, or just the internet?

Internet. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's Hamachi's fault we were having problems connecting to each others servers. Match is ready, anyway.

On Hamachi, joining an existing LAN server is easy.

Hosting it is another issue. You have to have the proper ports forwarded to host a game properly, regardless of whether or not you're using Hamachi.

Don't blame a good program because of your poor computer skills. http://portforward.com/

This computer is part of a network, and any game hosted on LAN on any game doesn't work properly.

Then that absolves Hamachi of any wrongdoing in your problems.

Also, just about every home with more than one PC has "a network," as you so eloquently put it. The problem is software firewalls, either in your home network router or with Windows XP.

Disable them, or open the appropriate ports.

That would involve being productive instead of sitting on this forum complaining that something doesn't work when you've been given perfectly reasonable and helpful advice.

So again, here is what you need to do:

Go to http://portforward.com and look up your router. After that, look for the game you want to host. It will give you directions on how to port forward your router.

After that, you need to either disable Windows Firewall, or name an exception. Unfortunately, naming a specific exception is hit or miss, and its probably best to disable the firewall when you want to try to host a game.

I can 99.9% guarantee that one (or both) of these suggestions will solve your problem. If not, then its an issue with packet filtering at your ISPs end, and unfortunately--there would be nothing you can do. Some ISP just do not want to allow people to open ports for video games or file sharing.

Do those, come back, tell me your results truthfully, and I bet it will work.

Oh, I'm not complaining about it. And we can get a normal internet match to work anyway. We're only using Hamachi to choose which server we're going to.
