A new rule of "Ban unless your post is at least 50 words and has grammar and spelling that would get at least a C from a strict college proffesor." would be really interesting.

Yeah, not happening.

Grif with ban capabilities? Exactly the same as he is now, except a banhammer instead of a meathammer.

Not at all what I'm saying. What I'm merely suggesting is more of a:
"Post deletion/other minor punishment if you don't use proper spelling and grammar."
Course, repeat offenders would have to have scaling punishments with the number of offenses... As I said in the OP, DRL is a forum. If you want to use chatspeak, go to a chatroom. It's simple logic, really. Also don't mind me when I correct things that I quote. I just hate to see the little red underline from Firefox getting mad at me for there being misspellings...

I just messed up because of the pattern in "college."

How is punishment for poor spelling legitimate, not everyone uses a spellchecker... I certainly don't...

Also, you have a libertarian admin, I doubt you can come up with an argument that would convince me to do anything about this(aside from deleting completely unintelligible posts)

I really don't mind if you don't make it an offense.. At least make it a guideline or something...

Milest3hr4t, my case and point.
On Grif with banning capability; Notice he never said he'd use it. Just that he'd have it. With Grif holding a ban hammer, you'd proofread until your eyes bled.
On spelling/grammar; Just put it in the rules that people are allowed to flame you if you have horrible spelling/grammar, as long as it's within reason. If you feel it is not within reason, report it and a mod will review if it was necessary or not. It keeps the negative reinforcement there while taking away their right to ♥♥♥♥♥, except in extreme circumstances.

Replace meathammer with banhammer.

Watch as the forum cowers in fear.

Post Re: DRL -- Chatroom or Forum?
I love how people instantly feel that authority would continue to make me behave in an inflammatory manner.

Think about this: I have a reputation that far exceeds anything I could even hope to generate myself. There is no way I could actually flame every person on these forums, and yet the outrageous public opinion, propogated by a few members, is that I, in fact, do. That's not true, and I've moved away from my old days of irrational trolling. A truly impartial observer can recognize that I do have behind virtually all of my statements.

Now, not to strut my own stuff too dramatically, I am in fact capable of rationally examining a situation. Alenth, you know that. On a day when you were close to banning me no less than three times, we managed to hold a rational, calm discussion, which, at least to me, appeared to end in a position of mutual respect, or something close to it.

Okay, so, we've got me, public enemy number one, courtesy of my infamous status as #1 drlff troll. So people know who I am, and the "legend" of me clearly states that I flame anything that moves for any reason under the sun. Now give me authority to ban. It doesn't even have to be actual authority. You could just give me the title and name color; people would assume it's legit and instantly do one of three things: 1, proofread til their eyes bleed, as Ophanim so eloquently said; 2, ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan to you, WizardJames, or Data; 3, leave.

Now, two out of three of these solutions appear profitable to me. And 66% really isn't bad, you know.

Just saying these as an absurd attempt at rationally outlining my reasons for "applying", as it were. I really don't care whether I recieve any authority or not. I still have more clout on these forums than half the moderators, despite being an utterly standard user.

Attention, ground unit, Anticitizen reported in this community. Code: lock, cauterize, stabilize.

But in all seriousness, the only people that are opposed to Grif are the idiots we want to remove.
