If you have CDs to reinstall from, you could try DBAN, which will completely wipe a drive at the lowest level possible. Great tool for general disk wiping or if you have... uh... "incrimating evidence" and need to get rid of it quickly. (link)

Re: Vista vs. XP
I agree with Canabis. Microsoft is very much evil ... ... but that doesn't dimish the fact that they're incredibly sucessful. Yeah, Linux is awesome (Mac OS and its related commercials are another matter), but it hasn't enjoyed nearly the same level of popularity. Why is this ? I haven't a clue. But whatever it is, it's the same thing that's keeping Vista from having a good name (and fueling all 'dis hatn'). IMHO, it's called people are resistant to change. Almost always .

Re: Vista vs. XP
I use Vista and love it. I have XP on a partition, but haven't actually used it since I've got Vista. At least for my computer, it's a hell of a lot faster. I mean, it hurts to use XP when I use other people's computers. Plus it looks nice.

Re: Vista vs. XP
Vista = XP on steroids.
But since it is on steroids, it has a few downsides. like having to ask for permission 3 times to do anything in the [c] drive. But since its on steroids, its WAY faster and more efficiant than XP.

Yeah, as Striker said, just screw with the permissions and such, I already did that, I couldn't stand it asking me 300 times if I wanted to drag a file from a .rar into the desktop.

Re: Vista vs. XP
Vista basic has less features than XP. And Vista spies on you. But Vista Premium is still = to XP.
