Trust me, typical emos these days just dress emo and have gay black hair and wear tight clothes, I do none of that. I have cut myself before, I have attempted suicide, those are things todays typical emo does not do, because in this day and age emo means popular, not suicidal like it used to.

If you want to talk about old school emo, Fall Out Boy is nothing close. Actual emo was a subgenre of hardcore that was prevelant in the Washington DC area in the late 80's - Rites of Spring, Fugazi, Minor Threat, Smart Went Crazy, Jawbox, etc.

Then in the late 90's Warner and Sony and the like took teen-targeting pop rock and repackaged it as "emo".

The real emo look was cardigan sweaters and chunky glasses and value-village clothes, not hair-over-the-eyes-and-skinny-with-eyeliner.
