Please note that this post is on topic, as the title and OP indicate that the thread is for general discussion of the game.
Hmm... On the one hand, I really, really want to play this.
On the other hand, my dad is the sort of parent who taught me to play DOOM when I was three but took away GTA: San Andreas when I was thirteen.
Can anyone recommend some way to get him to allow me to buy and keep this game?

Well for one, you will learn how to fight drug dealers in an alley way should the occasion arise and theres no need to kill people in real life when you can kill them in a game.

Usually telling him that the games make good stress relief quite persuasive.

Which would he want you doing, causing city-wide destruction in a game or attacking someone in real life?

I hate that the game's been censored in Australia, because that censorship has trickled down to New Zealand somehow, even though we generally allow much more in NZ. There are only about 3 games that have been banned in NZ, the Postal series and the PS2 game based on Reservoir Dogs (which is totally ridiculous, they ban the game based on a totally ban-free movie!?) and Manhunt 1. But for some reason, we're getting a censored version. This is terrible - I can't stand censorship in games.

I mean, sure there are some things it's probably best if no-one does see, but games are far from that point. Unlike movies, they're nowhere near realistic enough yet.

I don't actually have a PS3 or an Xbox360, but the idea of censorship is enough to make me not really care about this game any more. I mean, I used to really be excited about it, it looks like a great game, but I'm not gonna go buy it if I'm not even getting the whole game.

Same thing happened with No More Heroes. The PAL version is completely different from the US version - most of the gore has been taken away. I'm not going to buy the game now.

I think its retarded that people think that GTA makes you want to go kill people. It does the opposite. It just makes you want to kill people IN A GAME. That's like saying that mario makes you want to do magic mushrooms and jump on peoples heads.

ITT: Bad game design is bad.

Seriously why does EVERY OTHER MISSION have to feature a chase sequence?

I haven't gotten the chance to play it yet, but frankly, it doesn't seem all that much different, aside from eye candy and physics. I have the PSP version of Vice City Stories, and I think I'll stick to that.

The physics are nice... mostly. Euphoria is neat.

Motor boats + racing them + being able to drop live grenades over the side.

'Nuff said.

I couldnt stand the old GTA's, They were terrible in my opinion. I like Niko, but in the old ones it was just some black "gangstas" calling each other dog.

The character's a bit easier to relate to, if you mean. and wait, do grenades float/explode in water? I thought they'd just sink like molotovs' (which are still my favorite).

True that, except for the fact that the martial arts I take in real life are slightly more effective than 'oshi a mugger right trigger right trigger right trigger!'
But yeah, maybe he'll listen to reason. I heard from my friend that this game is liquid awesome, and that the eyecandy is very nice.
