This guide will give be a How-To setup mIRC and OpenSSL.

Now this guide is a howto using OpenSSL. With OpenSSL installed you can connect to the server via port +7001 , secure connection.

So, download OpenSSL and install it, Petty simple.
Now open mIRC and press alt +o / Or go to Tools>Options.
go to connect>servers , Hit Add

For Description: DataRealms
ircserver: cortex.datarealms.com
port: +7001 (if your did not install openssl , you can use port 6667 )
Group: DataRealms

Hit add and select then go to options (just below of the server tab you were in)
Hit the perform and hit add. Find DataRealms and add it.

Now here you can add commands that start when you connect to the server.
Lets add

click ok and lets connect to the server
hit the lighting bolt, now you should automactly connect and join #drlchat

Now lets register your nick if you have yet to
/ns REGISTER password [email]
You will then get a email with a passcode in it, just copy and paste the line it gives you. and now your registerd . Put the password in the perform box from above.


Now you should be connected to #drlchat on irc.synirc.net with +7001 (SSL). And a registered nick.

To use pidgin, install it and set it up and use the irc protocol. You must set a username and real name like in the picture here



once thats done, you can just connect. and /join #drlchat.

** i added this becasue by default, it will get you banned from the irc server unless you do whats in the picture

Yeah, I'm using MIRC and it says "Invite Only".

I used to use the one that the forum links to, cuz' MIRC has always given me troubele. Can't you put the forum one back up? Or fix whatever the error is.

Uhhh, either /msg someone who you know is on, asking them to /invite you in, or, just wait for someone to remove +i.
