Re: Once again another MMORPG thread
City of Heroes.
Most RPG's go like this-
Fight monsters.
Sell junk.
Fight monsters.
Sell junk.
Get mission.
Fight monsters.
Sell junk...
Basically, you might as well have an RPG.
City of Heroes almost forces player interaction, a team player will level up a HELL of alot faster than a loner, plus, unlike most MMORPG's, every class plays a completely different part, where-as most RPG's have a sort of "Kill things in a different way" system.
The Blaster- Attacks from afar with devastating effect, but weak in terms of health and defense.
The Scrapper- Medium health, attacks close up with medium attack, the "all around" character.
The Tanker- Has alot of health and bases itself of defense, rather than attack, it can taunt enemies, and take all of the damage, which, with the defensive skills it's got, it can take as much as it has to. Only problem is, a focused tanker has weak attacks.
The Defender- Not a healer, Defender, Buffs, Debuffs, Heals, Revives, everything a team needs, defenders are a valuable weapon, many teams have failed just because they are lacking a defender. But, of course, they are squishy themselves, and not very damaging, Defenders rely on teams as much as teams rely on defenders.
The Controller- The most customizable class of them all, for instance, my dad's controller (yeah, he plays CoH sometimes) was weak, defenseless, and only really good for slowing down and weakening the enemy. Where-as my sister's controller is a healing mastermind, and even then, mine is perhaps more of a damager than the blaster! But, it has less health than other classes.
Plus, you can't look at the player's "Megasword of 2+ attack" and instantly know their level, in this game you have to guess, or check on their little target window thing. The costumes stay with you from the start (they can be changed at any time at the tailor, but it's expensive) and don't change unless you change them. (there are small clues of level, for instance, capes are only for levels 20+, and glows for 30+)
Another important thing, almost no 2 characters are ever the same, unless they are the same on purpose (or they both got lazy and used full "Enforcer" or "Jester" costumes.)
This is my favorite MMORPG, and the only one I really care about.
It is a tad expensive though...
