Some people like Vista cause of the looks, you can get that for XP
I like the side bar clock that shows your RAM and other stuff and ofcourse the "Improved" stuff
Like the better-ish paint and... Other stuff... Which you can probably get for XP aswell
Here in Israel Vista costs freakin' alot and I dont like it anyway, so buying it is a waster of moneh
And there are no new games and/or new softwareZ for it at the moment so its really pointless to buy it now
Well thats my opinion

If you use your computer for gaming, you're pretty much going to have to get Vista to keep up with newer games. If you're using it for work and stuff, then yeah, Vista isn't the best choice to go with.
We will be forced into using vista soon, microsoft will stop selling xp in 1-2 years I heard it a while ago. When we get new computers we must copy xp so we can use it.
Or we could get linux or macintosh(yeah right)

Well, most of the videos and pictures we've seen thus far have been with DX9, so although the DX10 graphics will be a major enhancement, it will still look damn good on XP. Also, there's a company that is making it possible for DX10 to run on XP.
On a side note I'm a bit concerned about how Crysis's gameplay will turn out, as I've heard some nasty things from those who have played it, but I guess we'll have to wait and see, as betas are betas...

i've had no problems with Vista, only 2 programs won't run, but i got by that with Virtual PC [easy solution]
only one bug with Halo 2 Vista but i later found it was my video card [lol] and i've only been BSOD'd once during installation of the Halo 2 Dedicated server, and Steam takes up more system resources [from what i've read] and [not sure about this next one] but Natural Selection (Half-Life mod) likes to crash on multiplayer, not sure about Half-Life tho [as i just recovered my acct. to play NS with friends] but there have also been issues with my specific brand of video card and Steam games.

I haven't had any major issues with Vista. Really, only UAC is annoying and that can be disabled.
I agree that it's mostly a graphics enhancement for windows XP, but if you're getting a new computer (like I did) why not get it with Vista? It'll be required for DirectX10 and soon will be the 'preferred' operating system for software developers.
By the way, "buggy on purpose"? Where do you get your sources? I highly doubt Microsoft purposely inserts bugs into their OS. And just because Microsoft isn't really that great with making an OS doesn't mean that you shouldn't get it. Take Ubuntu linux for example. Is it, security and speed-wise, better than Windows? Yes. What if you need to run Photoshop or some other major Windows-programs. Well, you've just hit a snag, cause emulation doesn't always work. (Though WINE is pretty good)
So, get Windows Vista if you need to run new software/games. Stick with XP if you want, but you might as well get Vista if you're getting a new computer.
