Post Just recently played CC for the first time
And I'd like to say that this game is ♥♥♥♥ stupid. But, in a good way. It's hilarious.

It's fun to try and play "normally" by doing things like digging for gold and getting a few robots of my own to do stuff like Guard my Brain, patrol, and stuff like that. But mostly I just find myself enacting my own little scenarios for my own amusement ("The drop ships left engine was destroyed by accidental misfire. There were no survivors."), or just ♥♥♥♥ around and fly rockets into the ground or whatever.

All the little problems with it make it better too. Like when my robot jumps out of the drop ship, and the little side thrusters on the side hits the robot in the head and it dies instantly. Or when my robot falls over into a crumpled heap when it falls off of stuff. Or I'm shooting someone, and then my gun flies out of my arm. I also really like how the skeletons love to try to burrow their way through the ground and steel to get through to my brain, or when they just stand their with a riot shield and let me shoot a thousand rounds at them.

I especially enjoy getting one of the rockets and flying around with it untill I fly it into the ground, or hit one of the computer's dropships with it, and they both spasm out of control. Then when mine lands I let the one robot pop out of it and he's fine. It's just really fun how the rocket reacts ridiculously to the stuff I do with it.

My only real complaint is that I feel retarded when I try to figure out how to mod this game. Although that isn't really something I can complain about, since it's more my fualt for being lazy than the game's. I've tried reading the tutorials that I've found from skimming through the forum, but it just seems far too daunting to actually add new content to the game via the mods I get from the forums. The most I've figured out how to do properly is give my brain infinate HP and make everything cost 0 money, and I suppose if I felt like it I could change some characteristics of some of the guns, but that's about it.

Bleargh.

Edit: I'd also like to say that for some random game I found just lurking around the internet, this one is exceptionally well done, and so are many of the mods for it. It's all very nicely done.

Actually I just got two mods to work. I put the mod.rte folder right in the base director of CC and they worked fine, which is great but it makes me feel even more dumb. I'm pretty sure I tried that with something else and I got an error for it.

Some mods will give you errors, but that's almost always a problem with the mod. Any mod you get, as long as it's compatible with the build you are using, should work if you put it in your CC directory.

Also, about the modding; it's not really that tough. You aren't really coding anything. All you're doing is editing the variables that data has allowed us to. By doing different things, you can get many effects. Just start out small and work your way up.

I know this game is hilarious, but you don't get the full experience until you start playing with mods in-game. Some of the things people have made are genius. Have fun!

I think mostly my problem must've been that I was just misreading all the tutorials (since I was just trying to skim through to figure it out as fast as possible) and the way I read it made it seem like I had to change several different things and add new things to some of the files in the base.rte. I also might've had the wrong version when I tried it before (since I was at a friend's house), because now I just installed like 20 different mods and they're all working fine and all I had to do was put them in the base directory.

I was just making it harder than it really was I guess.

I never, ever play CC the normal way, I don't think I have ever had a build 14 install with the brains vulnerable except for right at the beginning when I forgot to mod them.

Usually I just sent in an actor and see how long I can go before he dies, especially fun to send in a skeleton with nothing but a pistol...
Other little roleplays like that too.

That and screwing around with crashing stuff.

Meh, I always change the y offset on the brain to like 2000000 or something like that, sometimes the game glitches and I can't play but resetting always fixes it.

I just make them so they can't get hit...

A lot of the modding tutorials are out of date. I might update mine if I feel like it one day.

Now all I need to know is what do I need to find and change to give myself infinite money? Just now I was going through everything and changing all the costs to 0 gold, but that's tedious and annoying, and the gold guns seem silly since I still have to actually use a digger to get the gold, don't I?

There must be a number I can change somewhere.

I noticed that while looking for modding guides, half of them didn't even exist anymore.

Was modding more complicated for past versions?

The few things I do in CC.
1. Mod the Crobos so they're free and unleash hell upon the bots.
2. Me and my friend mess around.
3. Me and my friend kill random green clones for no reason (Lightsaber massacres are fun!)
4. Play normally

In order of how much I do it

Yep. That's how everyone does the money trick on here, because currently there's no way to change the starting money, hopefully next build=]
