(I think something went wrong during the registration, I wanted to be called Invertin!
)
Hello, I'm new here. But not new to CC. When I first played CC, it was confusing, I knew the buttons but it takes much more than that to get started properly. So here is the newbies guide to CC.(The unofficial guide already had the controls so go there to see them)
Before you even start the game
Funds: Funds are the money of this game. They are measured in ounces
Shopping with Space corp.
Weapon choice
When sending in troops, the weapon is the most important factor. here are a list of weapons and their strengths. (In size order)
Pistol: The pistol is cheap, and can do alot of damage on a headshot. Due to it's size it can be used with a sheild which makes it even better. But it isn't very powerful compared to the other weapons.
SMG: The SMG is relatively cheap, though more expensive than the pistol. It's rapid fire so it is useful for close range and medium range combat. This is my personal favoroute.
Shotgun: The shotgun is.. Fun, to say the least, but it isn't recommended, by the time you get close enough to use it properly you are probably full of bullets.
Ak-47: The AK-47 is a bigger version of the SMG. Heavier, bigger, but much stronger. It is also more expensive.
Blunderbuss: The blunderbuss is to the Shottie as the AK-47 is to the SMG. The blunderbuss has alot more flesh-shredding value. Skellies always have one of these.
Long cannon: I don't use the long cannon much, but it is the most expensive and powerful of all the weapons. It has lower ammo than most, and a longer reload time. It is best for clearing out large groups of enemies.
Explosives
Frag shell: The frag shell is small and can destroy a green clone easily, but only if it is close enough.
Grenade: The grenade is more powerful and has a better range than the frag shell. Grenades are best used as cheaper versions of Long cannon shots.
Meet the army
Skeleton: Weak, jetpackless, and cheap. These are best as distractions, cheap cover or as a fall-back option. These guys gib easily
Blue clone: With the best jetpack, the blue clone is good for scouting and anything you need done quick. It is best not to way this one down with heavier weapons as it is weaker than the other troops. Clones can bleed to death after being shot
Green clone: The basic grunt, these guys are good all rounders. Clones can bleed to death after being shot
Robot 1: Simaler to the Green clone, but with slightly better resistance to bullets. Robots are easier to gib than clones.
Robot 2: Apparently lighter than Robot1, but with less resistance. Robots are easier to gib than clones.
Tools of the trade.
Diggers
Diggers are small devices, that shred up the ground. The shredding particles have a low range, and a conical spray. gold is uneffected by the shredder particles, but it is instead sucked up, giving the user funds.
Light digger: The light digger has a narrow spray, its range is a few pixels lower than the other diggers and the shredding particles can only destroy soft ground, not rocks or any metal. (except for whatever the robots are made of.)
Medium digger: The medium digger had a wider spray, and can cut through rocks, but only very slowely.
Heavy digger: I call it the "gold vacuum". It has a huge spray and can even shred through certain parts of the base alloy.
Others
Concrete gun: Shoots a steady stream of quick-dry concrete, concrete cannot be dug through with the light digger.
PIMP MA RIDE!
There are 2 forms of transport in Cortex command, whichever you choose is up to you.
Rocket: Rockets are hard to control due to having one thruster, and cannot hold much before it is too heavy. Rockets can be used for attack, by flying into enemies or shredding them with your thrusters. These are good for almost every situation.
Drop ships: Drop ships are bigger, have more armor than Rockets and are easier to control, though much more expensive. The drop ships have 2 thusters on either side and one exit underneath. If either of the thrusters is destroyed the Drop ship will fly out of control and crash. These are very useful for delicate purchases.
The battlefield
Once you've got aquanted with the space-corps sales men, you need to co-ordinate a battle plan. Here are some of the things you will need to know.
DESTROY! HAHAHAHA!
Everything in Cortex command is Destructable, if a grenade goes off in the middle of a field, the field will have a crater.
Fly away!
Almost all troops have a jetpack, unless you are too heavy you can fly. Use the jetpack for transportation, and dodging. The fire from underneath the jetpack can also burn enemies.
Physics of war
Alot of objects are phsics based, if someone dies, it is possible that he could fall off and crush someone underneath. The same with rockets and drop-ships.
10 tips
In no particular order.
1. The jetpack is not just a form of transportation. It is harder to shoot something if it is going up and down than it is to shoot something that is heading straight for you.
2. Guns over grenades, the gun can aim better and it is harder to dodge small bullets than easy to see grenades.
3. The keyboard is easier to use than the 360 wired controller in most situations.
4. The best combination is Green clone + SMG. They are both relatively cheap and are very useful in the right hands.
5. A game with mods is not any better than one without.
6. Traps, pits, secret hiding places, are great.
7. Use the concrete gun to block off exits or to encase the brain.
8. If an enemy is running away, there is a 90% chance they will use a jetpack, aim up.
9. Unarmed is not harmless, the jetpack can be used to burn enemys.
10. If you lose, don't be stressed out about it. This game is for fun, not victory.
This is probably the longest first post in existance.
