Imagine how hard that is to code from scratch. First you have to tell it there's a multiplayer mode. (easy)

Then you have to code a "game Lobby" That isn't hosted by a server, but somehow.

Then you have to code "connecting" and updating to whever there at. (easy, hard no ♥♥♥♥ clue)

Then you have to code "Packets" To let them communicate back and forth. (Hard)

It would take a while.

You should take a look at .net 2 framwork, A lot of the games I have on my computer that are homebrew use it for internet play.
