Post The infamous seam bug
As most of you have surely experienced at some point, there's a bug in the game which causes actors to spontaneously combust when they pass the "seam" of the map -- that is to say, the part of the level where the map loops.
We'd very much like to fix it, but it's been incredibly difficult to pinpoint exactly why it happens. This is where you come in!
If you experience the bug, please reply to this topic and specify exactly what was happening when the actor exploded. That includes:
    The scene you were on
Where you were in the scene (obviously at the seam, but were you underground? If so, how deep? If not, how far above the ground?)
The type of actor which exploded
What the actor was doing (Was it walking? If so, in which direction? Was it crouching? Was it using its jetpack? Was it on the ground or in the air?)
    What gamemode you were playing

Thanks for your help!

Campaign mode, Coalition Heavies and Lights jetpacking down from a base defense tower to the ground level and landing there caused spontaneous death multiple times.

Scene was the second "plains" one, to the right of the first (Can't recall names ATM)

Sorry if this seems a bit off topic but I think it's relatively relevant. I haven't experienced this bug so far but I want to mention that you should probably suggest people make sure they're not exceeding the 255 MOID limit. Some of the bunker loadouts in the metagame have way over that (300+) so it's possible people who don't know better are experiencing random gibs because of that and blaming it on the map seams. I doubt many people would/will but I imagine you don't want any false positives screwing up your efforts to solve the problem. This also seems like a decent way to mention that the bunker loadouts need cutting down, it can make the game literally unplayable because everything stops being hit by MOs.

Yeah, that's definitely a problem. Do you know which maps in particular have too many MOs?

I should have made a note of it. I'll pm you the ones I catch when next I play a metagame, probably some time tomorrow since I'm on my way to bed now.
Oh and completely off topic now but since I'm posting (not to mention aside from Data you're probably the best person to ask), do you know if the functions that save and load the scenes are or can be exposed to lua?

They're not currently exposed, but I did ask if he could set it up. Hopefully it'll happen, although he has bigger concerns at the moment, I'd imagine.

Post Re: The infamous seam bug
• The scene you were on: Vesod Plains. Check this link, I copied the picture from the Metagames.rte folder. I exploded in the bottom left/bottom right when attempting to go into the long tunnel to destroy the enemy brain.
• Where you were in the scene (obviously at the seam, but were you underground? If so, how deep? If not, how far above the ground?): Underground - in an enemy bunker, very close to the bottom of the map.
• The type of actor which exploded: A Coalition Soldier Light, carrying a Gatling Gun.
• What the actor was doing (Was it walking? If so, in which direction? Was it crouching? Was it using its jetpack? Was it on the ground or in the air?): It was walking right. I sent around 20 enemies there at different times. Some crawled over the debris, others jetpacked, others simply walked. None survived.
• What gamemode you were playing: The campaign, with one AI opponent.

Hope this helps! :)

Numerous scenes, both above and below ground, but the terrain was generally flatish. Never happened in the air, ALWAYS while moving along the ground, both standing and crouched.

Flying over the point of implosion seemed to fix things for ground movement again.

I'm sorry about the delay on getting you info on the maps with too many troops, my current metagame has been going on for quite a while since it's me as Coa vs. 3 Browncoats and even if I cheated my way to riches the autobuild is still kind of borked and each turn takes quite a while.

But I digress, the reason I'm posting here is I've got a couple of seam pics for you as well as some other bugs (sorry if they shouldn't be here). The first and second ones are in the desert map, two different times playing that bit so it's definitely repeatable there, right in that area. The exact coordinates are around 3300 (a little further right since I don't want to send my brain right there), 1255 if that's of any use to you. The third one is the mountains with the dead guy.

Also, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned or noticed but I've got an example of negative funds invested in base (I don't have a save for it unfortunately). The base upgraded normally but for a while the funds in it kept dropping, then they turned around and moved up, as mentioned there were no problems with autobuilding in this.

Finally, I've encountered a strange music bug in one of my Unitec missions where music was playing normally for a while then for no reason I can think of the song played again over itself at half (or possibly less) speed. No console errors and it went back to normal when I hit escape and resumed.

Sorry for the double post, got another one. I may be clutching at straws here but I think it has to do with mouse button use (or maybe the actions performed by the mouse) when passing the scene wrap point. All of the times I've gotten hit by it have been using one of the two mouse buttons but when I pass through it again and don't press any mouse buttons I have no problems.

This one was on the volcano map.

Theory - Physical forces are calculated on the actor twice, since the game might think they are in two places at once. It always seems to happen to me when I'm firing guns, or if I hit the ground at the seam.

Had two bugs on the caves map, one was the seam bug.

The seam bug happened exactly where it happened to Data in the B27 preview, and it only happened if I was actively doing something with the mouse, as Bad Boy said.

The other was that there were two enemy brainbots, which may or not be a bug, but im guessing it was caused by having two AI on the same tech and team.

(had a perfect screenshot showing both, but it apparently wasnt saved properly...)

I've noticed it only ever happens when the actor is touching the ground, I can jetpack over the seam as much as I want and nothing happens but as soon as i step on it I explode.

Same mountain as Bad Boy except aboveground, two times total, when attempting to get in a position that would allow me to pick up a weapon.

I've been playing CC for a long time and it always seemed to me like I would explode if one foot was on the opposite side of the seem pulling the rest of my character onto that side from the other side. Having one foot on each side of the seem is like having on foot on each side of a portal when it turns off.
