Post USB Portability???
Does anybody know if Cortex Command is portable (self-contained so it can be placed on a USB flash drive and played on other computers)???

If not, how hard would it be to make it so??? (more a question for Data)

It would be awesome if this either is true, can be made true, or will be true in a future build.

That way I can just drop it on, and play it anywhere.

Space isn't an issue, but would be nice to optimize for others. (I just got a 160Gb. portable hard drive for $99)

I think that flash drives work. In fact, I'm almost completely sure. But not completely.

I've played it at school (don't tell them) off of a USB drive, so it's completely portable.

So long as the game doesn't change the registry in a way that requires it to access the registry upon running, any game is self-contained. Since I doubt Windows trusts cc enough to allow it to change the registry, it's completely self-contained. Even if it wasn't, you could just drag the install and all your mods around, then do a quick install and copy the mods and play it on any comp until you're done, then uninstall it. But that's just tedious.

I doubt that the performance is any worse running off a flash, anyway. Everything is loaded into the RAM, so all that might happen is that compiling might take a bit longer.

Geez, you haven't bypassed their security yet? Pretty pathetic.

Mostly in jest.

tried, they found out about our class. we used to have lan tournaments of the halo demo, and i always won. they implemented a new security feature, and now we can't go to any website deemed inappropriate by the presets. no more vtunnel, no more proxies, no nothing. the only way is accessing the admin account, and even then i doubt that it will allow any applications. (we can't even access the friggin' preferences... stupid background... i'll have to look at you for the rest of the year)

Oh god, I hate it when you can't change your background. Wish I had more ideas for how to bypass it, but that's not my area of expertise. I wish you good luck though.

it is... because of idiots going around shutting down your computer. it takes 10 minutes to boot and its very annoying. we only have 30mb to store data on a server so i cant really have CC+my mods+my school work there :(
