Yeah, I can't find any good servers. I think I'm just going to get Gmod 10.
I wouldn't mind paying for Cortex Command, but I don't know what people who can't buy it are going to do.

You don't have to have HL2, I'm pretty sure you just need a game that uses the Source engine. And Steam's free.
