Just make the gravity pull slightly to the left.

Well if that's all for wind, the train could just be moving to the right and it would be about the same. The benefit of the particles is that if you were behind something, you would not get pushed. Not worth it though, I don't think. Who knows though.

Problem with the train actually moving throughout the landscape is that the landscape suddenly has to be insanely large and you have to make the train move, which is a feat in itself.
The gravity modifier is easiest for me, it gives a pretty good approximation for wind.

Well, either the train has to be moving or the ground has to be moving, and unless you want the whole thing to be just a tiny looping area, you might as well just make the big map. (Or come up with some sort of substitute.) Might be good to come up with a way to not do calculations for things far enough offscreen, though. I have to admit, since not much collision would happen with the terrain, it might help keep the animation of those on the train smooth if the train was actually still. But then, how can it go up and down over hills?

It won't? Or go through the hills, like in real life.

Daman, he's just throwing out ideas... no need to go all NINJA on him.
Aaanyways, I think that the normal modes might sorta get boring, these are good ideas to implement. They are a little strange, though... I think I would want CTF and Assault modes before they try making these. Still, excellent ideas.
EDIT- Aww... crapper. I didn't see that there were three pages... (A-durk-a-der). I was replying to Daman's posts on the first page.

TO go through a hill you could make a tunnel.

Good point. Still, it's fun to move a little vertically, and this game is perfect for it. Most games just do a looping terrain movement, instead of the train moving on the terrain. Why not innovate?

See you in 3 1/2 years when you finally get this to work.

Maybe the entire level could be in a tunnel.

It would cause the map to feel to bland, if you know what I mean.

My butler will lead you in to Data's and my quarters. Don't expect any loans though.

Or the tunnel could already be there, and the hill sprite would just be part of the background but on a layer which is higher then the layer which everything else is on.
