I did get it to *run* but it black-screened. I'm running Ubuntu Edgy.
Anyway, KingDubya, the .cpp files don't really exist, they're packed into the executable. It appears Data has programmed the game's bug catcher to tell him where the error occurred in the execution of his code. It seems like CC is not finding any files, since settings.ini is the first thing to be loaded, at least from what I've seen. I'm not a Linux guru, so you'll have to check with WINE support boards or the WINE IRC channel to see if they can help you with that.

Linux isn't for games, its for people who know what they're doing.

Exactly, thank you Juggz. And I did have Windows at some point, but I dropped it fo two reasons:
1) Money (I only had 2000 Professional, and Ubuntu is free. Hmm...)
2) Troublesome virus; my computer would restart every single time I tried to log in, even in safe mode.
Besides, I had always wanted to try out a linux. And since it doesn't run Windows executables automatically, no Windows-specific viruses will affect me.
PS - I'm not a Microsoft hater. I regularly put off hard work to play on my loverly Xbox 360. :p

WINE! I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING! LINUX ROCKS!!
Have you ran winecfg yet? I know it's a stupid question, but had to ask.
Anyway, try double-checking where it's set to emulate C: drive. I've run plenty of games in WINE, but you have to be careful of the locations so that you get it right. Like, make sure that it's in the emulated C: drive folder, or else it won't be able to find itself.
Also, make sure that you've selected an audio device and that you've selected the correct version of windows to emulate.
Really, the location is key in this case. Hope this helps,
