Yeah, as I said before you couldn't use diggers or anything. It would be more like the game SOCOM for PS2.

It's worth adding that it'd be possible to mod a previous game to use this sort of gameplay. God knows HL2 came close, back when I could still map half-assed I made gm_dig- lots and lots of breakable bricks that could be destroyed with a weapon and through which you could construct dens and cave systems. It was a lot of fun, especially to use the pit to test weapons systems and such.

Not the same thing, I'm aware, but the potential's there.

Yeah, it wouldnt work in 3d, but check out this thing http://www.advsys.net/ken/voxlap/voxlap_src.zip (run game.exe)
You can make holes and destroy the house, its kind of fun, but you wont like the graphics :)
